Hi, Ilona 🙂 Like you, I am a silk painter, though I've only been painting for the last 10 years. In another video you mentioned how you wanted to elevate silk painting to the level of fine art not just decorative art. I'm in the US and from the very beginning of learning I was taught that silk painting is a fine art. My whole experience with silk painting has been as a fine art. I create fine art on silk and I link it most closely to watercolor painting. You probably know this already and I apologize if this is elementary, but I use a different method than you to work on my silk. I use spray starch to make my silk like watercolor paper and I use a mix of vodka, isopropyl alcohol and liquid starch instead of water. I use water to rinse and clean my brushes only. There's more but I'm sure you already know all of this. I paint portraits of people and pets, as well as creating fine art featuring wildlife, marine life, equine art and more. I like to watch your channel because I learn a lot and I get many ideas. 😊 I want you to know that I am grateful for your teaching and I look forward to your videos. Hi, Denise! I love your warm amazing letter (I couldn't call it just text or post).Thank you so much for your explanations about fine art and decorative. It's funny but I've been taught that applied art is mostly decorative. The idea was (I think) that people wanted to decorate thing they've made for usage: utensils, fabrics, rugs, cloth, tools. But you're not the only one who told me that. So It's interesting to compare an attitude to same things in different cultures. And again thank you so much for your description of how you paint silk. I know, there are many facilities, mediums, means etc, I used to try, but I like minimalism :))) By the way it's a theme to be mentioned in video. I'm intrigued, where can I see your works?
