Couldnt agree more with tip 2 and 5, public would be 10x better if everyone tried a little harder to be better at those. Great video 👍🏻

👍 on the rangefinder. It's not very heavy, and besides knowing exactly how far the edges of your decoy spread are, you can use it like a monocular to scan distant flocks, etc. One day this year, we were hunting the banks of a large river, about 150 yards across, deep and swift. We had been there for about 2 hours and some guys came straggling in on the other side. We could see what was probably going to happen, so we went and stood in our spread in full view so hopefully they would get the hint to set up their decoys somewhere else. No such luck. They set up quartering downstream, 200 yards from us in a straight line. Not wanting to lose an eye, we moved. I can't help but wonder if these are the same kind of guys who leave all their empties in the marsh too. They apparently missed that part of kindergarten where we learn to be considerate of others. Great show, Elliot. Thanks.

Got early to a public spot, two guys asked to join us. We agreed and had a great hunt and made some new friends. Wish it always turned out that way on public land. Unfortunately the reality of toxic public land hunting has been on the rise. Stay safe out there fellas! Great tips Elliot!

Here is another tip, you will have little to no competition if you hunt during the week than on a weekend.

Yes I have had others set up that close in boats even after we shined lights to let them know we were there. Enjoyed it Elliot

Great video!!! Love the tips, totally agree with you. Let the birds work and finish, and concealment is key on public land.

If we hunt public we usually have 4 guys and we set up a buffer 40 yds or so on each side with 12 decoys and a light. Our main spread will have 2 guys at it and 1 guy at each buffer spread. It keeps guys back away. Once the hunting starts you can pull the dozen buffer spreads and just add to your main spread. Sometimes the buffers get better shooting at first light. We also have a signal if birds on left I quack if birds on right I whistle if birds straight out I feed chuckle. No one has to talk just stay still and be ready.

Hey man, awesome footage. Which camera from your description did you use to film the birds coming in around the 4 and 6 minute mark?

Cannon G40 on both. It’s about $1200 camera.

Great job Great points - wish more would follow Control your dog might be another tip. Hunted a draw space north of us. The other draw party came in just at shooting time. Set up gathering blind material. We shot a couple of ducks. Their lab broke, they couldn't get it back, picked up my duck and returned to them. They didn't shoot. Hour later they packed up and left - with the duck. Thinking positive, thought they didn't want to mess the hunt by bring the duck to us and would leave the duck on the only pu in parking lot. Nope😕. Oh well. Be respectful both yourself and your pet
