When we buy something it is always over budget and underperforms. Well maybe not “always” but “usually”. The biggest mistake I see the DND making is a lack of investment in its personnel. Equipment can be purchased in an emergency, but good people are hard to come by. Who would commit a lifetime or even 10 years of your life to an organisation that discards you like a used condom when you are injured? DND and Veterans Affairs need to be coordinated much better than they are and our veterans should not be given pensions that put our people in the poverty range. As things stand you would be nuts to consider a career in the CF. My best friend has been in since 1989 and I was primary reserve for 9 years.
