This vid was a wake up call on this movement. Thanks for forcing us to face the reality of this situation- false positivity is no way to live! The media is feeding us the wrong message about this- they should be educating the masses on the vegan message, but they’re scared of losing $$$. Go FRUIT yourself!!! 💛

Yes, even when I was 250 pounds I was still an A cup. I’d say I was shaped more like an inverted triangle... once I lost the weight I became ‘curvier’. Or as curvy as you can be with an A cup. All that matters to me is that I’m healthy, and when you feel good on the inside it shines through :)

Body positivity is important TO ME because while I'm working towards being a healthy weight...I am 300 pounds right now. That is my reality. That was because of my decisions and I totally own up to that. I am now vegan and guess what! Still overweight. But I don't want to be accepted by society ONLY when I've reached a healthy weight. That will take A LONG TIME YET. No one is lesser than because they are fatter. We are not disgusting and the scourge of society- like some people would honestly lead you to believe. That's what body positivity means to me! It means we're all equal no matter how much or little fat we have. Judge people by their ACTIONS REGARDING VEGANISM, sure, but not their weight! And now that I've accepted the NOW of my body I can make changes :) but it didn't come about by not being positive!!

What you're saying is completely true. Your weight does not define your worth. But like the other reply says, most of the girls are promoting it in a way that leads you to believe it's okay to be morbidly obese. Which obviously, it's not.

I didn't even begin to want to lose weight UNTIL I loved myself, and thought I was beautiful. Of course we want to be healthy, and live a long beautiful life, but when you get to a point where you hate every part of yourself, you dont WANT to make the effort to change it. This movement is necessary and isn't just for plus size people! This movement is for EVERYONE, and every body.

I keep hearing this, but for me I lost weight because I hated myself and my body. I was bullied so badly that I was driven into depression, and I started to take action. Sure I hated myself but I thought if I changed something about myself that everyone made fun of, it would stop. It worked in the end for me, I lost 85 lbs and am a healthy weight, and I'm starting to slowly like parts of myself but I still don't love myself considering all the loose skin and stretch marks. BUT It's a lot better than it used to be.

As someone recovering from an eatingdisorder that almost killed me, I don't like this fat acceptance movement. Body positivity is great, always love your body no matter what, but to me loving yourself means caring and fighting for yourself. Back then I decided to love myself enough to accept the pain and struggle that came with changing my ways, so that I wont die an early, painful death. Its not about beauty, being pretty wont give you shit. Fight for your health because you only have this one life, dont waste it feeling like crap or being trapped in a hospital bed.

This could be written by me. I am 32 too, hated myself since I was 14 and gained weight then - I actually wanted to loose some weight (only a few pounds, was already at a healthy weight...), but it got me into the cycle of strong calorie restriction and eating disorders. It took me a few years to get to where I am now. I finally love myself and accept myself how I am. But now I wanna show it too, that I love myself, by loosing weight and getting a fit and healthy body with a whole plant foods diet ♥. Also: The change to love myself & getting rid of my eating disorders was strongly inspired by Freelee. What she said changed my whole mindset. (I had many more issues to deal with that's why it took me a few years to get to this point where I am now starting with my journey to get fit & healthy.)

I think the message she is trying to get across is that you can love and respect yourself and your body while also being healthy. You cant have true self love if you are slowly killing yourself through the foods you eat. Self love is caring for your body and reducing the risks for as many diseases, ailments and cancers as possible. You should lvoe the process, but you cant truly love yourself if you dont even have enough self respect to treat your body as a temple and have high standards for what goes in your body. Self love is wanting your body to thrive

She almost only does videos on women, and then proceeds to dehumanize them instead of being firm, yet understanding. If she wants to turn people vegan, she needs to fix her delivery message. you can get the same message axross without offending people and making them spiteful to not want to listen to you. Some people will listen to freelee with her method, but not all or most. Perhaps why individuals who avoid gaining weight report feeling miserable... Instead we should be driven by how good and healthy we will feel when following a healthy lifestyle.

V Elizabeth she said a lot of hurtful stuff actually, not just specifically to Lauren. Also, an egg sandwich with cheese is a healthy option. Vegan or vegetarian is not the only way to eat healthy. Eat what makes you feel good and provides you with fuel and nutrition. Healthy eating is all about balance, moderation/portions, it’s nutritional benefits and fueling your body. And what works for someone doesn’t work for everyone.
@alliechristensen513
@alliechristensen513 4 жыл бұрын
V Elizabeth are you a professional nutritionist or dietitian with a degree? Many pro nutritionists and dietitians would claim that sandwich to be healthy and nutritious. I’m going to follow and listen to professionals who are helping me reach a healthier state in a more sustainable way, but you are entitled to eat what you feel is healthy and sustainable to you just as a fat person is able to do the same. Most people who have reached obesity are trying to loose weight and get to a healthier state but people bullying them into it (especially without knowing that person and what they are/aren’t doing) doesn’t help them reach their goals and only further sinks them into unhealthy habits, horrible mental states and eating disorders.. It’s time for people to get their nose out of other people’s health unless they are reaching out for help. It’s not your place to “correct” them or tell them how to eat or live. It’s as simple as that. And that is what is wrong with this video. If none of you can understand that, then I think it’s a lost cause and it’s super sad. I’m done wasting my energy on this video and all of you ✨

Just like how we condemn smokers even though they are adults choosing what to do with their bodies, the condemnation of smokers is justified because it is unhealthy. Just as being morbidly obese...there are no healthy smokers, there are no healthy obese ppl. Just facts, don’t get sensitive over it. Love yourself enough to want to have a quality life.

It’s not about making people Obie’s or telling them not to change. We support HEALTHY change. Once you learn to love yourself, you’ll learn to treat your body well. And yes, healthy comes in a variety of sizes. Unless you’ve experienced it, you would not know.

@@alliechristensen513 Well, I've definitely experienced it, and I definitely know I do not want to continue down this path. I'm clinically obese and trying desperately to climb my way out of the hole. If you are also obese, then you DO need to change. "It's fine to be fat" is the mantra of someone with the privilege of youth. Wait a few more years for your body to start breaking down. It happened to me, and it will happen to you too because you are not invincible. You can only abuse yourself for so long before your body begins to react. I truly and honestly hope that one day you will understand the profound injurious effects that words like this can have on people. These are the words that push those already struggling to their breaking point, and I don't believe that anyone should want to hurt others in that way. These are not the words that will inspire someone to change for the better, but instead make them feel like they couldn't if they tried. Your definition of health is not universal. The mental effects of self-loathing can be much more detrimental to one's health than their physical state of being. This burdensome feeling of shame over one's body is what these strong, lovely creators are trying to alleviate. Please, please try to understand who you are hurting and how you are hurting them. Taking this movement and using it as an excuse is not okay. This is not supposed to be for people who make themselves sick. It's great to feel pretty and confident- if that is genuine, but people still need to take care of themselves and make choices to best support their physical health.

Whatever you guys think about Freelee’s hardcore approach to nutrition, you can’t deny the fact that eating only nutritious/unprocessed food is the proper way to shed the pounds long term, greatly reduce the risk for disease and lead to a healthier lifestyle in general. This is because it’s the way humans are meant to be eating and yet most people have traded their natural diet for junk food. Reality check, “moderation” will never work and is simply an excuse to continue indulging in junk food. I personally don’t agree with eating only fruit but Freelee makes great points in regards to the body positivity bullshit. Anyways I’m pretty sure our ancestors ate mostly fruits, some vegetables, nuts and very minimal amounts of meat if they did eat meat at all. BTW most healthy diets fail because you’re not eating enough calories and/or getting the right balance of nutrients.

However, I try my best to substitute as much as I can. If I’m being honest, I don’t desire to be a size 2. I’ve been on the heavier side my ENTIRE life. I do desire to be at a healthier weight. I experienced this, sure I hated veggies and fruits for the first week, but your body will adjust and actually crave those healthy foods. Eating right foods clears the brain fog and decreases negative feelings/energy (it may not 100% get rid of it, but it dramatically improved my mental state). It also improves self discipline, which is important for life in general. Also eating shit food only gives you temporary happiness and feel “good” in that moment, it’s like a high.

You can believe whatever you want to... in order to excuse your actions. You aren't a motivator... you have an abusive mentality.

The problem is that while you're in the process of losing the weight from being morbidly obese- are you not allowed to love yourself? Can you not wear nice clothes? Can you not be proud of your achievements? Can you not even exist on social media or at the gym because you're not perfect yet and people will harass you as if you aren't trying when you really are? The body positive movement can include fat people because while you are working on your health you deserve to feel like a person who has worth, you're allowed to love yourself at any size even if that size is not healthy. And loving yourself does not have to equal accepting all your flaws and not planning to change them. It really is just about tearing down the oppressive beauty standards of this consumerist world. For many many women, they have to love themselves and accept themselves BEFORE they will have the strength to change because the bullying and self hatred have caused them to just give up on themselves and eat trash.

Berfin Hacyusuf Yes actually. She always is preaching being “healthy” when in almost every single reaction video, she tells women how to live their life, which they did not ask for by deteriorating their mental health. I’m all about being healthy, it is so so important, but tearing down one part of health while trying to bring up the other is not it.

The Ecocentrist Misanthropic Vegan I heard her message loud and clear, I just don’t agree with the way she’s saying it. This girl is not a doctor and should not be giving unwanted health advice just based off a couple second long video about a girl preaching self love!

Notice these body positive models are young? Obese young people feel great. I know because I was once young. It all falls apart at 40. Mobility issues, aches, pains, metabolic problems, vascular problems. It is not pretty. They will no longer be smiling.

I broke up with a friend bc her weight was an addiction to food and she treated me as an enabler for years. When I confronted her she threw a fit and we haven't talked since. Obese people are masters at gaslighting. She would claim she was eating "clean" but continuously got bigger each year. Also I agree that obese people cost tax payers money, not too mention consume WAY more resources. It's time to get real.

To say that obese people are masters at gaslighting is so ridiculous. That's like saying all goodlooking people are narcissistic. Also yes I am obese and i am that what because I dont eat clean but in some ways I eat cleaner than my family who are all omnivores. And eat more junk food than me sadly

hey girl 🥰 i'm 170 pounds and 5'3, just want to say i'm perfectly healthy! not all women are built paper thin, stop fatshaming people for being themselves :) people like you are the reason so many people feel the need to hurt themselves just to please society. we're not disgusting, we're humans.

I like how she assumed set almost everyone who's overweight are not vegan when there are people who are actually vegan and are overweight especially if they only eat sugar fruit

oh my gosh this is my first drama hold on. well technically she doesn't eat fruit all the time but if you happen to eat fruit and only fruit and eat tremendously a lot of it. You can gain a lot of weight actually hold on let me copy and paste something from Google

While there are some people on this diet who could lose weight, eating large portions of fruit actually puts you at risk of gaining weight. ... A fruit-only diet can also be dangerous for people with pancreatic and kidney disorders. Tooth decay: Fruit's high sugar content can put you at high risk for tooth decay.

Idk who this girl is, all I know is that a lot of people hate her but I agree with her in this video. Fat acceptance is toxic. Why can we speak out abt how toxic thinspo tumblr was but not how toxic fat acceptance is? This is a two way road. You can’t be against one but not the other. Both equally as unhealthy.

It was pain that got me to change and go plant-based. Best thing I ever did for myself. 50 pounds down, no more pain, no more aches, good sleep and energy for activity. Still got about 20 pounds to go I think but I'm not really worrying about it, it will get to the right place eventually so long as I stick to this way of eating. Good for you, Freelee, for inspiring so many people to take charge of their choices and for calling this harmful trend out. I have been an obese person. I have been body shamed in the past and what you are doing here is not body shaming.
