Also the difference between gym etiquette is not what you would expect, in boxing they spar HARD every day. Basically having fights every single day. In MMA gyms there’s more of a more aware culture where light sparring is more common and you only go hard on certain days.

He’s right if we’re thinking about head trauma, would you rather you get head kicked one time boom boom done or would you rather get knocked out come back on a eight count and if it wasn’t a lucky shot get dominated throughout the round probably get hit a few more times in the head before they call it or you get knocked out cold he’s right

So true. Even tough I got my worst injury in MMA (busted knee), I have not been concussed in MMA remotely as often as in boxing and I have to add that I have an iron chin, never even got knocked down. But at night I just got dizzy so many times. Concussion after concussion. You often dont even think about it, just going about your day with a mild concussion. I can see why many boxers develop serious brain issues later in life. Even the small punches that you eat easily for breakfast add up.

100% on point,in MMA once you're down once you're done,in boxing you keep getting up until you dont😂
@samstyler86048 ай бұрын
This is correct, it's a mixture of reasons, an often overlooked one is that boxing has very limited striking surfaces, no leg kicks, no knees to the body from a clinch, no throws or trips or submissions... Most shots are thrown to the head, it's the prime target and takes the brunt of all the trauma. Also boxing gloves are so padded out you are able to punch incredibly hard without as much risk of breaking your hand, all the padding also makes cuts less lieky so the bout is less lieky to be stopped for bad cuts that would happen with bare knuckles or much thinner gloves. Bare knuckle boxing is statistically safer than boxing due to the fact fights are stopped more often for bleeding stopping the guy just getting his brain constantly rattled also fighters have to pick their shots and how hard they throw them to which targets.... You're a lot more careful looking for that knockout blow when hitting a couple of inches too high will result in you shattering your bare/only wrapped hand on your opponents skull.

As a boxer myself who’s been fighting at an amateur level for 4 years I have to say I disagree. I’ve had torn both of my biceps tendons, had broken my ribs twice, and have had numerous concussions (never been knocked out before) during my fights. That’s just from boxing. Imagine competing in MMA with kicking, knees, elbows and on the ground? I have so much respect for MMA fighters for that reason.
@ItsAme714310 ай бұрын
I've boxed longer (barely) and I completely agree with this post bc I've done the research before and there's been less than 30 deaths in total in mma.... Idk if you've ever looked up how many people have died in the boxing ring but even when you take into consideration boxing being around longer and do the average per year, boxing doubles it so you can't let your assumptions blind you with bias. Mma might be scarier to you but that doesn't make it more dangerous 🤷boxing averages about 10 deaths a year lmao it's not something to brag about but in my opinion saying mma is more dangerous just bc it sounds more dangerous is kinda goofy
@chaytonhotah154410 ай бұрын
Well, well, well, looks like both boxing and MMA are in quite the knockout competition when it comes to fatalities and injuries. While boxing may have a longer history with a higher overall number of deaths, MMA seems to be giving it a run for its money with a lower total death count. But hold on tight, because when we shift our focus to sustained injuries, MMA takes the spotlight with higher numbers compared to boxing. That’s all I’m saying.
@ItsAme714310 ай бұрын
@@chaytonhotah1544 in terms of injuries? Yea you're right, in terms of fatalities I already explained that the average deaths PER YEAR (that means it takes into account that boxing has been around longer) almost doubles that of mma, so in terms of fatalities no you're absolutely incorrect mma isn't catching up to boxing, gotta do the research if you're gonna say shit like this🤷
