@MAYONNAISEMOOSE5 жыл бұрын
First you use the quadratic equation then you use the 0 property -- that is, when you have to sets of equations that equal 0.
@mohammedkhaled24566 жыл бұрын
It turned out that x-int = (2, 0) and the y -int = (0, 4) and the vertex is (2, 0) as well ... Is it a happy face parabola that cuts the y axis at ( 0, 4 ) and the x axis at ( 2 , 0 ) which is its vertex and x axis intersection point at same time and bounces afterwards off ( 2 , 0) to change its direction upwards towards the infinity . Its domain is ( negative infinity , positive infinity ) and its range is ( 0 , positive infinity ) .

what if it's y=(x+1)^2 how do you get the x intercept?
@somerandomguy923 жыл бұрын
Simple factoring; You want y to be 0 since you're looking for the x intercepts Therefore you have (x+1)(x+1)=0 The one solution that would make this equal to 0 is if x=-1 That means you only have one x intercept, at (-1,0)
@florindelalba76395 жыл бұрын
would there not be two x int. ?
@cowragerzzz6784 жыл бұрын
There would only be one since if both x-intercepts are the same, the graph crosses the x-axis one time, therefore having only one x-intercept
@Ammor723 Жыл бұрын
what if it was x=-2 and x=+2, which one would be the correct x intercept?

@michaelmunoz92334 жыл бұрын
I understand you had to factor to get -2, but why 2 times? Why was -2 in both sides of the X?
@Udsinghkh1234 жыл бұрын
Because -2 times -2 = 4 and -2 + -2 = -4. This works with the quadratic given, so it can be used to factories it.

how to solve this f(x) = (x - 5)squared
@MayaW--arlopamperdpooch4 жыл бұрын
expand it out to be x^2 -10x +25. use a generic rectangle or the FOIL method. it is a perfect square trinomial, so x =-5. or, if you don't know that method, then use the method he shows at the end of the video (the diamond thing) you will find that -5 times -5 equals 25, and -5 plus -5 equals -10, so x = -5

Hi of course I’m horrible at math but quick question.. after factoring out and you got x-2=0 2x how did you get X=2 and not X=-2
@Help404xyz3 жыл бұрын
If x were -2, then the equation would be -2-2=0 which isn't true as -2-2 is -4, positive 2 does make this true because 2-2=0
