This man helped me in middle school when I struggled with pre algebra, and also helped me with geometry when I was in 10th grade. Now I’m in college minoring in math, and over these years I have started to love the field. I cannot believe I’m saying this, but thank you Brian, for not only helping me learn the material better, but also for inspiring me to minor in mathematics, I never thought I would make the decision.

I’m currently in grade 11 and I started this in grade 10. Completing the square has definitely gotten easier but for people in grade 10 it will be hard at first.

This is the first modern video that you made I saw. Very helpful! Could you possibly do a visual proof of it also using areas of rectangles? Could you also possibly use it to derive the quadratic formula?

When I was in my 8th grade, my teacher was curious how I knew Completing the squares, that's because of you .. 9th Grade, I am the only one who loved math .. like .. why??

I think the reason so many people dislike math is because of how it's traditionally been taught -- and the fact that many parents passed down the "I hate/I'm not good at math" philosophy to their kids. In generations prior, we were taught to memorize the standard algorithms within two class periods, through doing lots of problems (from a book). If we didn't understand it, we were just screwed. We weren't taught mathematical logic and concepts -- and using the internet (KZbin) to learn math hadn't become a thing, yet. We also weren't taught multiple ways to solve problems -- except when it came to something like Quadratics. This is why so many parents had an issue when Common Core math came along. With CC math, you really have to UNDERSTAND what you're doing and WHY you're doing it. As someone that grew up being taught under the old model, I love to newer, conceptual approaches being taught -- because it's how I learn math. I'm the one that helps my little nephew with his homework. When I tell him how lucky he is (because of technological advancement and a change in teaching models), he looks at me like I'm nuts -- and calls me a nerd! 🤣

I hate to be shady, but this video was quite disappointing. I don't understand why you didn't teach the standard algorithm in conjunction with the area model -- or why you didn't introduce the Po-Shen Loh method with a basic graph. These are the kinds of things that make math make sense.

Absolutely, I have multiple videos on completing the square I will be releasing including those points. This videos purpose was different but greatly appreciate your feedback and completely understand your point
