How do you find the domain and range of a function

Learn how to determine the domain and range of a function given the graph of the function. Since the domain of a function is the set of all x-values we will want to identify how far left the graph goes as well as how far right to determine the domain. For the range we want to determine how low the graph goes as well as how high. We will write the domain using set and interval notation.

Sorry. I watched a video of Marty Brandl's Relations & Functions because I've no background on Functions and watching this couldn't enlighten me. But after understanding them, I see that your example is a bit different from his. I'm kind of confused though; what's the difference with the Domain and the Range you've given between enlisting the Domain and the Range that was given in Marty's video? Is it because yours is in graph form? I'm taking about the 1st example as the 2nd doesn't have any points, just on the x, unlike the 1st that have at least 3 points.

There is no difference in the domain and range just how they are represented. Marty used a mapping function which is common when first learning about functions. In my video I am using a graph. Where the x-values are the same as the input values in Marty's video and the y-values in my video are the same as the output values in his. does that help at all?
