I love this. Glad I was able to be a part of this town maybe only for 22 years but none the less it is an amazing little hometown. The town my boys were raised in.

Been passing through Freeport on the way to the beach from central Alabama since the early 1960s and never gave the town much thought (except when we'd buy ice on the way to Grayton Beach) because all I wanted to see was the beach when I was growing up. Still drive 331 to this day headed to Grayton Beach or even Panama City (not Beach!). Next time through, I'll have to stop and visit the town's history up close. And I still remember that Tasty Freez. Thanks for some wonderful memories!

Ross Allen played an important part in my life in 1966. On December 7th, 1966 I was bitten by a copperhead. We lived about 8 miles south of Birmingham Alabama. I went to a doctor's office in nearby Vestavia Hills. The doctor, Earnest Campbell had vacationed in central Florida and visited Ross Allen's Snake Farm. Since Dr. Campbell was a doctor Ross Allen had given him anti-venom to take home for his office.

Nice video on the history of Freeport. I hope the city planners will come up with a design for the city to incorporate it's history and heritage.

Agreed! I hope they don’t go completely cookie-cutter on the aesthetics.

Looks like a beautiful place to be. I'll make it a point to stop by with my family when we head to the beach. I'll bet the fishing is good.
