That control triangle you've made between the tiller and self steering is pure genius; most self-steering setups have little (slack in the system) feed back and feels more like flying a kite with your feet.

I've really enjoyed and incorporated some of your solutions. From your new cubby closures that finally give me access to my coolers without them escaping to your encapsulated HDPE for fittings. The change to dynema and soft shackles for the minimal rigging on "Insanity" has been the most intriguing. Seems to sail much more upright and less tender. Also it's a hell of a lot easier for a gimpy old man to stab the mast into place.

I'm more inspired that youse found different ways to do things, than what you did. The folding solar panels is completely unique. My land solar panels are 35.6 X 25.9, not long and skinny, and I really don't understand the long skinny fragile solars, especially on a boat. I also like the idea of a storage slot below deck in storms. I have a Chinese air cooled MB 168F diesel engine with a hand made 1 inch shaft adapter for a huge pulley. I can't think of a better sailboat motor than a 44 LB 3 pony one, that mainly makes 12 volts. I want nothing to do with lithium batteries or batteries wired incorrectly in parallel. A 12 volt chest freezer in ECO mode is effective, and I wouldn't have a boat without a CB radio and an ADF.

Great episode!!!! I know you have a lot of followers. I had to head off to church during your livestream and I'm sorry i wasn't able to stay with you the whole time. I'm glad that there will be more adventures for Free Range Sailing. When you asled some time ago to send you pictures of my restoration on my US25, I did not do it. I apologize. But I might be clising the deal on an 'S2 - 11C' --- it too will need a lot of work!!!!! If your goal is to inspire one person to move forward and do what he could not imagine himself doing, you fulfilled it in me. I went from barely having a dteam to owning a small boat to learn how to sail and repair to now looking at an 11 meter center cockpit cruiser. Your videos HELPED, to inspire, and to become more than a voyer but a doer I apologize for not getting the pics you asked for from this current boat I salvaged from saws and a dumpster (i got for $750 American, now worth 3,000) to a nice sailer I am mortgaging my house for. I apologize also for not assisting in Patreon. I have to put a lot of overtime in just to have a boat and pay morage. After I sell the house I can help and continue not only to view but support your channel. Wish you were closer, this purchase, if financing goes through, would be awesome for your advice and help. But South Puget Sound is s a ling ways from Perth or wherever you might be ATM. I look forward to watching more videos. Even if you go on a land expedition for a bit. I love your videos as do most of your fans. I want to thank you for the work you put in to take us along on your journey. And thank you for not ending 'Free Range Sailing."

Love that bridle system for the jib sheet! I put a 1m bowsprit on my 32-footer, tacked a spinnaker to the end, and poled out my big furler on the windward side, great sail pattern for downwind runs.

Our 47 footer likewise does not have tracks for the headsail sheet blocks and we simply use <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="361">6:1</a> ‘handy billy’ block and tackles to tune our jib sheets into position. We use Witchard soft blocks for the sheet end and a snap shackle at the other which means we can easily remove them and use them for other purposes, such as for tweaked on spinnaker sheets or lifting outboards, etc. So you don’t have to have a little boat to make use of such arrangements, and you certainly don’t need winches to change the headsail sheeting positions on bigger boats.

why I like Free Range Sailing and I've only seen it twice: There's lots of talk about the boat and sailing. That's why lots of us watch and you fulfill your mission. You also do it with lots of details and easily taught lessons. What you talk about, demonstrate, show and tell , is all important. This is a channel for those interested in sailing.
