Maaan. Today i rode the first time the new YT Capra 29. Pinkbike said it feels harsh. To me it feld so plush man. The best bike i ever ridden.

The thing with this big channels reviews is that they have to be taken with a pinch of salt! First of because they do test a BUNCH more more bikes than the regular rider that changes bikes every 2-3 years (sometimes longer than that). With this comes the fact that even if the rider that does not change bikes often they do not test that many bikes either nor long enough whenever they are getting a new bike! So of course it’s hard for said rider to feel a bike to be harsh because there’s not enough other bikes to be compared to. Not to mention of their previous bike didn’t get suspension services often enough, or if their current bike/old bike has the same type of suspension adjustments, surely geometry also comes into consideration… so always it’s important to consider what type of bikes they are comparing to, if possible watch your current bike review whenever it came out and compare it to the review of the bike you’re looking at getting. Compare the review of your Current bike to what you actually think of it as subjectively as possible and then think of what they said of that bike plus your opinion gets improved upon with what they say about the bike you’re interested in, taking into account the differences you have already of your bike and their opinion on it. It’s just hard to wage an opinion form someone who really has the time to test so many bikes! They will be way more picky and harsh about negative stuff because they have much more to compare with. But that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true or a big enough draw back, rather just a bit more noticiable negative trait vs on other similar bikes

You say it’s a heavy bike, yet the Strive CFR is a little heavier, and considered the more pedal friendly option, or would you say these two bikes pedal very similarly?

Is it easy to change the coil? I read somewhere that you need a bearing extraction tool or something? Seems odd? Thanks.

Been looking at this bike (CF 8) to pair with XC-ish trail bike. Looks like a bike to have fun with. At 6ft, sizing between M and L is causing slight struggle.

I'm 182cm. And got a size large to get a similar reach for my Old Bike And it rips. For reference the old rig was a Marin Alpine trail in large too. Over all this bike is sick. Loves to jump like crazy and handles rocks like no tomorrow.

6 foot on an XL Nomad with 497mm reach, feels perfect, got 35mm length stem, 60mm rise and 780mm bar end to bar end wide bars Go for the Large youll love it, just throw some high rise bars and slam that dropper into the frame on the downhills to get extra clearance for the jewels 🤙

I'm 185cm and went medium, threw a 50mm stem on it and a 20mm rise bar, feels nice. I got the 29er version and also put a megneg on it.... definitely helps with more midstroke support. It's Poppy and climbs well for what it is.

what about the builds with air shocks, would those be better suited for a do it all / enduro race rig?
@LuLeBe2 жыл бұрын
For Enduro racing I would really go with the Spectral 29. That's perfect for it, the torque is more like a DH bike that allows you to pedal up the hill as well. I mean you might find it great depending on the track, but the general recommendation for a Canyon Enduro bike is the spectral 29. There's the strive but that is a bit dated, so even some of Canyon's riders use the spectral.

By the sounds of this, this could be a good bike over a pure DH rig if you spend more time shuttling on tech chunky terrain, however still want a bike that you can pedal ?
@LuLeBe2 жыл бұрын
I think you'll get up the hill, especially on a fire road, very well, just like on the older spectral etc. I would consider the spectral though for what you describe. I think the torque has its place in the park, where you ride for hours and hours, taking the lift up, going down 2000m, and again. There your hands and body will thank you for the extra plush suspension. But if it's not just big jumptrails etc anyways, but smaller trails out in the woods, a more versatile bike like the Spectral could be a better fit. It's still a super capable Enduro rig, but the torque is almost a DH.

Can you elaborate on the shock topping out?
@vitalmtb2 жыл бұрын
basically a bit of a "clunk" when the shock tops out, we've seen this on several DHX2s 2021-2022. It's quite minor and doesn't really affect the function of the shock.
@Thematty6352 жыл бұрын

Did you know you can change the travel from 175 to 181 or 187.5 by removing bottom out spacers on the shocks without it changing the way the bike handles if you run the same air pressure or coil rate

Why do you guys feel like its so comfortable at high speeds with short chainstays? I thought longer stays were the "key" to feeling good at speed. Sounds like this bike breaks the rules

there are so many other factors to consider than just chain stay length. Between the relaxed geo and the ability to soak up rough terrain, this bike feels really settled which inspires confidence at speed.
