Take baby wipes and talcum powder and as many pairs of socks that you can carry. Cleaning your tired feet and putting talc and a pair of dry clean socks on at the end of the day feels amazing. Peace

It is bloody cold at night. It is colder at night if it has been hot during the day. Bring something warm for night time. Getting there early is great, but we have never bothered turning up much before 1, we meet at 11am we go have food and coffees then we head to the car park. We generally get in about 12:45 13:00 and we are normally camped and se up by 14:30. They clean the toilets in the camp multiple times during the day. They only clean the toilets in the arena before they open in the morning. Budget for food. Just in case, If we have a torrential downpour again then you could end up losing your food to the rain. Always have a back up. Generally budget for the whole festival. I know it is late now but start saving at the start of the year and by the time it gets here you will have a good little nest egg for food, beer, and merch. If you wonder what new channel you want for the weather it is East Midlands (with the BBC) check it before you leave it will have the latest 7 day forecast, it might change but it will give you a fairly rough idea of the potential weather. There is loads to do at night. Don't expect to sleep much. An neighbors should be friendly. Download is one of the friendliest festivals. Time till 18th download. 4 weeks. I forgot. AIR BED, seriously your spine will thank you. You can usually pick them up on site, but seriously bed roll or air bed, AIR BED.

These are some great points! And yes I fully agree on the air bed - I used a roll mat for several years and just no, don't do that!

Tip 11 - camp in RIP and park next to your tent :-> It's a shorter distance to the arena making it easier to pop back to your tent for more supplies.

Cooking does save money, but there's all the hassle of cleaning, and washing facilities are quite limited and when it comes to raw burgers and sausages, you don't want food poisoning in a crowded campsite when toilet queues are heaving. I personally would save a bit more money and eat from the food vans if you want proper food. Pot Noodles are a good snack, but not to live on for nearly a week. And sandwich bags are a great way to keep your toilet roll dry. I learned that one the hard way.

Great video! any tips for going on the Friday? my group are worried about camping space. We know we will be quite far back and are prepared for that, but they're al increasingly worried about us having enough space to camp
@RobertJPalmer2 жыл бұрын
I'd say that you should accept a longer walk to the arena and try to find a place to camp that's further away. If you try to squeeze yourselves in to the first camp you come across then you'll be really cramped. Looking at the new map, I'd imagine yellow and purple camps will be the least busy at that point.
@itsCopia2 жыл бұрын
@@RobertJPalmer perfect! Thank you so much! I've not seen the new map yet, but yeah I'm not too worried about a long walk 😁 yellow or purple it is! Thank you!!

My plan for toilets, pee in a cup/bucket and when you have to go, go into one where a girl has come out without heaving lol

When you speak of not camping near paths.. toilets.. ect how does that work.. how frequent are the paths, is it a free for all in-between or organised in rows or plots or anything?
@RobertJPalmer2 жыл бұрын
Each of the camps (blue, purple, black etc), are like big fields with paths criss-crossing them like a grid pattern, but each grid section is huge and can have hundreds of tents on. (Obviously this is unless there's been huge changes this year, and I wasn't at the Pilot so I don't know how that worked)

My only 3 tips are: 1-Down a bottle of water in the morning before you start drinking, 2-Eat at a vegan food place to get some veggies- makes you feel mildly healthy! 3- SUNCREAM
@RobertJPalmer2 жыл бұрын
This is all very good advice! Mmm the Veggie burgers when they pack them full of salad as well, its the healthiest meal I have when I'm there! 😄

I second this, I only eat falafel wraps as I don't trust meat at these things especially as I'm allergic to chicken :D

Will there be a comedy and cinema tent this year?
@RobertJPalmer2 жыл бұрын
There is definitely a comedy stage, which will have bands on later in the day. However, they haven't said who the comedians are, and we've heard nothing about the cinema tent sadly :(

I'll say this about the toilet, when they gender split them in 2019 in the campsite, weirdly the women's was quiet clean overall... Not sure what could of changed that...

I am coming on my own on the train/shuttle bus. I'm bringing my stuff in a hard wheeler suitcase, most of my journey is train and bus and coach.. am I mad? Walk from transport looks like it will all be on tarmac as I'm in eco camping.. which is right next to the village.. I just feel like a suitcase over A huge backpack and carrying is a better idea. (My tent fits in my suitcase.
@RobertJPalmer2 жыл бұрын
If you're all on tarmac then you should be fine, but if you hit grass/mud then you'd suddenly have a terrible experience dragging the suitcase. But if they have a lot of hard-standing paths this year then you should be okay

@@RobertJPalmer The objective is to hit the plastic bottle over with a ball. Throwing takes place alternately and the players of a team also have to throw after each other without skipping any member of the team If the bottle is hit and falls on the ground the throwing team is allowed to drink from the beers in front of them until the defending team has fulfilled the following tasks: - put up the fallen bottle - get the ball and bring it behind their end line - each player has to run to the center line and back to their place. After that the judge will shout “STOP” and the throwing team must place their beers back on the ground. First team to finish their beers wins Full rules: media.voog.com/0000/0035/5433/files/Flunkyball%20spring%202018%20rules.pdf

you can apply for access which gets u a free PA ticket, access to accesible toilets, disabled campsite and viewing platforms! I did it as I'm autistic but yeah! RIP is expensive but just buying 1 ticket and applying for access would be your best bet!

I think Black will be the party camp, we're going for Blue but that's mostly just because we always do! And Purple looks like it will have fewer people but also will be the furthest away! So depends what you want I suppose :)
