Mr Donnelly - My teacher tried to explain mass spectrometry in 5 hours and I didn't get it. I watched your 4 minute video and understood it instantly. Please could you make a video on electrospray ionisation as all students in our school can't get it around their heads. You are the only one who can save us. Your videos made me get 3 9s at GCSE. I'm in Year 12 now so could you please manage to make all the A - level videos by 2025. You are very much appreciated.

How u just meant to know what every fragment is ?

the peaks go in order of the number of carbon atoms in each ion. For example pentane, the lowest possible fragment is the methyl ion (CH3+) with just one Carbon atom so on the spectrum that would be the first one shown. followed by the ethyl ion (C2H5+) and so on:
