I LOVE Bagheerah, I have a soft spot for our "senior" horses. I've worked horse rescues for many years and the "oldies but goodies" are the best! I love your recognition of the less then desirable bits for the western classes, but more so your acknowledgement and training of your students with them. Not once did I see a hard hand on your riders, melted my heart, the trust a horse has in his young handler to be gentle in a vary venerable position....I love it! Amazing!

Also, side note. Love all your babies!! They are precious 💖 💗

Yes there is SO much value in older horses. So many people who are inexperienced look for their first horse and want something super young so they can “grow together”. They are missing out on the seasoned 15-20 year old horses who have plenty of life and great years left. Bagheera turned out to be a treat since she’s older and so nice to work with. I love her. Thank you for noticing the students hands. I really emphasized soft hands. a loose rein, and minimal contact until you know how to ask for it properly. ❤️❤️❤️

Love your philosophy of development with horses and riders. It’s always about enjoying the journey with these amazing animals, not about some pressurized need for someone else’s approval. Like you said- this is the fertile soil for both to flourish.

Thank you! I never truly understood being competitive without the horse and the bond in mind. Once you have that I can understand competing and moving up. Personally, I’ve never liked competing but I truly love the process of bonding and developing the horse. 🐎⭐️

I look forward to each of you videos. The tic tic and the longer videos. It's my escape from being busy into your world. You have the best students and horses. I love Olaf's braid. While watching, im able to feel like I'm right in the ring watching and learning from all of your hard work. Thank you for sharing your world with me. What do you think about the halter chain configuration on Pocahontas? I've been told that will get the attention of the horse but it seems as bit harsh.
@freespiritequestrian2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lynne! The halter and chain is only for showmanship and halter. It’s required. I don’t do showmanship myself and I personally don’t use chains, but to show in those classes you have to use them. I do not like them overall.

I have found through experience that using a 3 piece mouth piece or dogbone mouth piece with short shanks as they are called is much more enjoyable for certain horses instead of a regular snaffle mouth piece or Tom thumb.

I prefer bitless or a lozenges Snaffle :)

@@freespiritequestrian I ride in a rawhide braided basal or halter most of the time but when needed use a dogbone mouth piece either d-ring or short shank.
