Shea, your story is amazing. You are like the energizer bunny, working with your horses and finding them new homes. You and Kyle have a great connection, and he obviously supports your dreams. I am not a horse person, have not ridden since I was 16, but I love ❤️ to see your KZbin stories and love ❤️ to watch you take care of, train and ride your horses. Having Belle give birth to her beautiful filly and you buying a mate for her is so cool. Can't wait to see if they become friends 😊

You are currently teaching me to live my next life by watching you live yours now. I'm in training at 77 years old, not able physically to ride, but learning from every video you make. I have found a farm that is a horse rescue and rehab facility (Horse Plus Humane Society) nearby in Pa. and intend to volunteer there soon to get hands-on experience because I have determined that my next life will dedicated to horses, I believe in reincarnation, and wanted you to know how much your story matters, not just to me personally, but to all who see and learn from you. Thank you and Many Blessings.....

@@SuicidalHAbsolutely true. She’d never have been able to do any of that, had her family not supported her interest in horses as a kid. Tbh, I can’t figure out how she was able to afford boarding, & upkeep of 3 horses while in college, working what sounds like a bit so well paying job. My brother owns and boards a warm blood and he pays upwards of $700/mo. I’m just astonished at how she did it. I’m not knocking her at all. I just can’t figure it out.

Shae, It is absolutely a horse gene! I’ve loved horses my entire life. It’s been an obsession. From reading the Walter Farley and Marguerite Henry books over and over, making horse scrapbooks, horse models, to a summer at my uncle’s Colorado quarter horse ranch, to taking riding lessons through the years. As an adult I realized that I loved the stable smell because it made me so happy. My entire life I begged for someone to buy me a horse. Never happened. I was determined that my children love horses as I did. Many years of horse camp and private lessons. They became competent riders but it wasn’t a burning love. My husband died and in my grief I decided I could and would buy me a horse to love on. Not ride, just care for. This sounds like a hard-to-believe girls’ book, but I inherited a small ranch and had a wonderful place for my ponies. The stable was ready for my girls. It is such a joy each morning to go greet my ponies that are waiting for me at the fence. My horse dream came to reality and is everything I wanted. PS The cost of horses is pretty shocking. Hay bales, vet, trailer, feed, halters, leads, fences, fly masks, curry tools. It doesn’t end. But I do love horses. ❤

I'm 70yrs old. Horses are my heart too. Couldn't get my first one until 15. Would beg, and borrow any horse until then. Listening to your story, the thing that rings true throughout is "horse people" (from the heart) are an open, unique breed of their own, unlike any other people. Love your journey. Love your passion. My horse (of my own) journey started in Munith, Michigan. I would ride to Waterloo as often as possible to ride/camp. (a blanket over a tie-line for a tent). At that time, early 70's, Waterloo was referred by locals as Sugarloaf. Imagine my surprise to see you riding my teen trails. I'm now in Colorado. Still have a horse. Will need one in my life until I die. You are so right, horses are something you're born with. They are as essential as air. Love what you're doing. Love you.

Thank you Shae for sharing your equestrian life journey up to today. You have kept your childhood focus of being with horses and maintaining the dream to have at least one special horse in your life since you were 7 years young alive, everyday. I see so many parallels with my niece, Crystal, who is an animal lover, but had started her own horse companion journey by the time she was 10 years old, ( until several years ago when another passion came to light - world travel. ) My sister bought that first horse for her for her tenth birthday. Crystal’s fathers family were terrified of horses, but she managed to get her paternal Grandmother on a horse several years back. At least once. And her father the same. I m wondering if you may have crossed paths at some horse fair or event when you were in Sacramento, CA. That is where my niece’s paternal family come from and where she spent the next 15 years of her life riding, training and eventing around Sacramento. She is a few years older than you, but the “horsey set” is is a relatively small world, so one never knows. 🤔😉 I m so glad you let us horse lover fans know about your impressive equestrian journey and the creation and mission of “Free Spirit Equestrian Farm”. It is great that you have a life partner in the operation and development of your farm. This is a world where like minded people foster the dreams and opportunities that allow the growth and health of such a passion. Now with so much back history and experiences with such variety of types of horses and skills learned and knowledge gained in horse husbandry, I can understand better how you are bringing this journey and the individual horse stories into development and consciousness for horse lovers and those other people who want to learn how you are managing your vision and keeping the dream alive. You are inspirational. I m thrilled to have discovered you on UTube. I m very interested in whether Esmeralda May become your next “Heart” horse. It is rare to be presented with an opportunity to grow with this animal from birth to death in each other’s company and to influence the potential in each other. On the other hand I can understand completely what your mission is too, in regards to discovering if Esmeralda’s best journey and potential may lie with someone else. I mention this bc 23 years ago I was given a unique kitten, about 4/5 weeks old, unexpectedly, on my birthday by a special friend of mine. A kind of cat I had always wanted. A calico, Maine Coon. I named her La Pilla ( Spanish for rascal - my friend is Mexican American ) but called her Pia. Spelt it that way bc no one knew how to pronounce her name. To continue, Pia just past away, on or about her birthday, a little more than a month ago. She reached just reached 22 years. A remarkable age! And life. She gave me so much. Crystal reminds me that I gave her so much. We had such adventures together. I had a great dog I had that kind of relationship with too. Not a horse, yet. I think I will be happy to live vicariously through you and your heartfelt love for your horses, dog and pig. ( and feral cat?) Peace and Blessings to you, Shae, to Kyle, to all the beautiful horses and animals at Free Spirit E. Farm And to your extended family, Dove, and friends! ☮️💟🙌👏👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I was the same way about horses and got to ride when a family friend bought an older sorrel mare, then a Welsh pony named Tex...he was fun and we took him to the lake house on the Wateree River and rode and swam, then as soon as we were 60lbs. had to learn to water ski...not my favorite thing...my father was not patient and he had a lot of awards for his salomning(skiing on one ski or even barefoot) not for me as some areas had pockets of water moccasins and they were frightening, we were lucky as the people that had summer houses on the lake made sure we had none around our swimming places or where we had the horses...summers were wonderful...and the adults would go out on house boats and socialize with others who had lake houses on the river...we had baby sitters, though as we swam and rode and boated we were tired by 9:30pm and fast asleep soon after. Great summers and good friend 9:48 s!

You are so very talented and have such a good eye for great horses. I wish everyone could connect with someone who has your knowledge & compassion. As we know, so many people are burned by people just trying to sell a horse.....and not concerned if it is a "good fit". Hats off to you & may you have many more years of success in what you do.!!!

Shea, so happy you told your life with horses! There is nothing like watching a young person get attached to a horse and become a excellent match with a horse. To see the command of a rider and the flow of doing so effortlessly is a pretty amazing experience to watch. I hope you can continue to offer wisdom and horses to young people in years to come. Sometimes I think of sponsoring a need for kids who financially can’t make a dream happen

You’re so right - you’re born with it in your genes! From the time I was 7 everything was about horses. I had horse pictures in my room, horse statues, everything horse!!😂Finally my parents let me start lessons at age 8. My mom even let me spend every Saturday until 5pm. The stable staff were kind enough to find little jobs for me to do after my Saturday 9am lessons. My lesson horses were a bay named “Buddy Boy” and a sweet palomino named “Cream Puff”. I loved smelling like a horse when I left the barn! Every summer camp I went to had to be one with horse riding included! I begged my parents to buy me a horse but they felt the monthly boarding was too expensive! I can so relate to everything you’re saying! I’m a bit older now but I made sure to pay for and take my granddaughter to riding lessons when she was 7! ❤️

You are such a confident and happy person. Clearly you did not suffer from over-protective parents. I think riding can give girls (well, boys, too) confidence, and if I had had children, I would certainly have exposed them to horses if they felt an affinity. I got riding lessons in full regalia (breeches, high boots, shirt and tweed jacket (8-13 maybe), and later got to do Western pack trips in the mountains. I got to ride again, sporadically, in my late 50’s and sixties. Age 65 I inherited two Arabians, a grey roan mare and a grey gelding, and brought them back from TX to Northern Illinois. I enjoyed having them, but Donnie developed diabetes that insulin couldn’t help, and he died of acute colic age 21. Rocket the mare was there and I had lessons and worked with her, and she lived well into her 30’s. After a few years, my husband refused to support her any longer, and wanted her put down. The barn owner and another boarder insisted on taking over her care, and I reluctantly agreed. I was able to contribute to her care, $25.00/mo towards worming/farrier costs, plus having her 3 coats cleaned, and visit her. But the boarder moved her to another barn and no one would tell me where. I kept in touch with the original barn owner, so I know Rocket died a couple of years later. She had a good long life, but I think it would have been happier if she had had contact with me those last few years. If you spent parts of your life in Northern Illinois, we could have crossed paths at the local saddlery and never known it. I’m glad you’ve been able to achieve your heart’s desire. I’m glad you lead such a fulfilling life enjoying horses and helping them. I’m 74 and my husband and I just celebrated our 50th. I may never have horses again, but having the ones I did have was a lifelong dream come true. Best wishes to you!

I love your story ! I have a comment and I hope you don’t get mad. It’s not meant to be mean. You may think about taking out the music. I have to go up and down on the sound to hear you. And, you don’t need it in any of your videos. You alone are completely interesting. And we enjoy hearing you talk. Just a suggestion. K

I've been intrigued with you for a while. Thank you for sharing your life story and the one on your horse-keeping budget. Horses were a huge part of my first 30 years (owning a dozen or so horses), but not much after that. At 82, I don't ride any more due to arthritis. But I watch horse videos on KZbin every day. I'm so happy to see the way training is evolving toward kinder and gentler approaches.
