Riding in the snow looks so magical that it almost makes me forget you had to set up nine stalls with bedding, feed, and water, bring in nine horses one at a time, remove their blankets and check them over, come back later and check on them then another check in before bed and then getting up in the morning and starting again. Only love makes someone work that hard.

„Give Buzz one more!“ He is already so loved, glad he is doing so much better, too! So glad everyone is safe and happy. In Southern Germany we often have lots of snow and really cold days. Usually we didn’t blanket the horses. But sometimes if they are old, sick, not in a good body condition or simply not used to being outside in the weather it was necessary. And to keep them inside when necessary - totally ok. The winter wonderland ride was stunning! I loved those rides so much, too. Arlo is gorgeous - and he seemed to be a gaited horse. Beautiful!

@@freespiritequestrian Only you would show this technique online, but it makes perfect sense, but have to say that the expressions on the three horses at the lock were priceless, "What are you doing, Mom?" They pointed their noses down into that crevice area of the lock and the gate and were really getting into the whole operation. Needed that laugh!

Your video brought me back to a day long ago when I was riding a black Shetland pony named Skeeter bareback in the snow. It was so warm and cozy burrowing into his shaggy winter coat during the ride. I feel you! Our three Appaloosa's were up for 2 days. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It got brutal here in Northwest Tennessee, much more than our guys are used to! The average is 30-45 degrees and we had 2 days of negatives. Our guys had been wearing there blankets for two days before the really nasty hit, but it had only been in the teens then. Yucky. We agree about the winter care, it doesn't matter how you feel, you get out and do it! Yes, three or four times a day people! It is a must! As my husband and I slowly get to the 60 year mark, we still do it all ourselves. I'd never trust anyone, except our daughter to follow every rule we put down for the horses safety, so yes, we stll do it ourselves. We no longer ride in the winter, unless it's in the 50's or 60's outside. Occasionally we'll due a New Years ride, but the weather has to be nice. Last year it rained, so we aborted that idea, lol! I don't know your disability or your location but you might find that a stable complex might have something available for you to participate in. We used to Have the RDA. Riding for the Disabled. I personally know of a couple of people with disabilities who do have horses but they do have access to help and do not strictly do all the care themselves.

I’m new subscriber compared to this video. Now June 3, 2024. Been threading your videos, and heard you refer to diff horses (& Buzz-1st time seeing him today!) that have moved on to their new home after going thru your program!!❤💫❤️ Army brat here so moved every 2-3 yrs, got to be in Ft Devens, near Ayer, Mass. the base had a barn/stalls that my beastie went to & introduced me too. Winter Wonderland was we walked from our homes (on base) to the Stables (to muck out & be near the horses), listening to Olivia Newton Johns “Magic” after snow had fallen, not all roads cleared & still snowing!! LOVED!! That is we’re I saw my 1st Appaloosa!! ❤❤❤

It has really encouraged me to get back around horses ...and not give up on owning my own...probably aim at owning a fit 12 year old plus....a horse that will look after me and others at a responsible rda stable Rda= riding for the disabled association Plan to write books for children to find it ... Hope it goes well. The horses at this stables go up to 34 years old with others being 17/19/23 year mark. Even looking at the horses on their website I'm in love with many of their yards horses...and the owner is great and very understanding.

My three mules did great. My fat paint did great. They hung out in the barn free style. My saddle bred needed a blanket and a interior stall but was happy. I wanted to ride bareback but way too cold here on the prairie. Fun channel.

One thing I did to help my instructor was to volunteer on days like this to help out. Clean stalls bring in horses get them comfy. Maybe see if any of ur girls would like to do the same this next winter. Or year round. Might lighten your load

Hello, it’s October, 2023 when I’m seeing this, but Merry Christmas from Florida! I grew up in Canada/New York State, so I appreciated vicariously experiencing the wind and snow! 😃. My wish for you this Christmas is automatic waterers for your barn, lol - The pipes would have to be wire-wrapped and insulated for heating, but I remember winter barn care for my horse and the frozen fingers and toes, too well, it would be worth it! Never hurts to put it out to the universe, anyway!😉. Your dream came true, riding in the snow on Christmas Day. The horses look like they were enjoying it too. I liked riding in the snow until the snow balled up in the hoof and you had to get off and clean it out before it would turn to ice. I used to ride after Thanksgiving Dinner to help with digestion. Sometimes I rode bareback because I was too lazy to put the saddle on. I used to help my friend in Florida take care of her 12 horses. She used to have five at the house and seven at a leased barn up the road from her house. I had the morning shift and she would get the late shift. I used to clean the stalls and feed at 7 in the morning before going to work. My friend would go up with her husband to feed and check to see if the stalls needed cleaning. Since they had access to a field, most times they would be outside. You guys had a lot of snow and crazy winds. NY got hit with everything, wind, snow and floods. I live in the southeastern part of Massachusetts and we got an inch and a half of snow and strong winds but that's all this time, I'm sure mother nature has snow for us in the near future.
