@RuthlessFares

I've actually found freesync to work better than the g-sync one i bought, both on the same system with nvidia gpu. That's comparing explicitly tearing and sync properties, not quality of panels. 34gk950f , freaking amazing monitor: 3440x1440, 144hz, "HDR", freesync. Make sure it's the freesync version, up to 144hz vs 120hz on the gsync model. Also, freesync works amazing with nvidia gpus. The freesync blew the water out of the PG348q g-sync
@mks2184

My question my sound stupid since i am not an expert but if you use nvidia's gsync on a freesync panel does it work equaly-better-worse than an AMDgpu+Freesync monitor ? I am asking this because amd gpu+ freesync monitor is hardware related and nvidiagpu+freesync is software ?
@RuthlessFares
@RuthlessFares 5 жыл бұрын
@@mks2184 well typically it depends on the panel in most cases. Though the approved panels by nvidia should absolutely function just as good or close enough. It can in many cases work "equally" as good. Ironically for me though, my 34gk950f freesync display worked better with the g-sync software than the pg348q g-sync display. As long as you check reviews or comments about a display and if it works well with the nvidia g-sync software, it usually wont matter to be honest. If there is a difference, its usually highly negligible. Do make sure to check the free-sync range vs g-sync range on the hardware model relative to your GPU strength and fps you play at, where this is typically the only difference that will matter.
@RuthlessFares
@RuthlessFares 5 жыл бұрын
The only reasonable situation that would apply to your case, about an amd gpu performing better with a freesync display than the nvidia software, would be if you're buying a monitor/panel that is off-brand, unknown, or known to not function too well with nvidia software. Otherwise, if it's reviewed or commentators say it works well, it's honestly probably not gonna matter. Go with freesync if the panel you want is of that variation. I personally have had a better experience with freesync on nvidia than their supposedly superior g-sync modules. It works well. If you're deciding this based on GPU, just get the GPU that you really want and get a panel that's known to work well with both gpus.

@Luredreier 5 жыл бұрын
3:07 No it is *NOT* "better". Freesync and G-sync each have different advantages and disadvantages *other* then just cost, I'm talking features here. What you can say is that certain *implementations* of G-sync is better then certain *implementations* of freesync. But G-sync is really just ahead when Nvidia has released a new G-sync module lately. They don't always do so though. And when it's been a while since last time the other scaler manufacturers catch up in freesync features and even passes the G-sync module in a lot of ways. Advantages are often things like slightly lower latency (except when Nvidia has recently played catch up), more connectivity (except when Nvidia has recently played catch up) and so one and so forth. As for the monitors that objectively give you a worse experience then G-sync those are so cheap that they're not *competing* with G-sync at all but with the monitors with *no* adaptive sync at all. And a *bad* freesync implementation is still superior to no adaptive sync even if it might not be on par with a good freesync or g-sync implementation. Anyway, remember that there are multiple scaler manufacturers that provides freesync support in their modules, and some of them are on par with G-sync already and others haven't quite figured out this whole adaptive sync thing yet and are miles behind G-sync, and some are occasionally ahead of G-sync (although Nvidia has done a good job of never allowing them to stay ahead for long). 3:46 That has *nothing* to do with what is "better" or not. What you're describing is the qualification standard. That is what Freesync 2 offers if you care about that kind of stuff. As well as LFC support for Freesync 1 monitors. It's as simple as going to AMDs website and looking up "LFC" in the list of compatible monitors. Monitors *without* LFC are not competing with G-sync monitors at all, they're all either competing with no-adaptive sync monitors (and are therefore way, way cheaper and *intentionally* using a worse and therefore cheaper implementation of freesync) or they're resolutions and aspect ratios that G-sync don't offer. Either way the scaler manufacturers are trying to find ways to differentiate themselves and to be competitive with Nvidias scaler. This isn't some kind of one sided this is *always* better then the alternatives issue. Realtek scalers have *some* advantages and some *disadvantages* vs Nvidias G-sync depending on the particular products you're comparing. MStar scalers has certain *other* advantages then either of the other two and also disadvantages. Same with Novatek scalers. This is engineering we're talking about here. And engineering *always* involves trade offs. And here each of them (Nvidia, Realtek, Novatek and MStar) brings different things to the table for the monitor manufacturers to take into consideration and in many cases you'll get a *better* experience with the Freesync alternatives as a end user. Yet you claim that Freesync is somehow inferior because AMD *deliberately* gave people the choice to buy cheaper implementations that does not fulfill any standards like LFC support or Freesync 2? Like seriously? We're computer enthusiast here. Anyone who don't know what LFC support is or Freesync 2 is probably don't know what adaptive sync is to start with making this point moth or are just bad at researching computer parts and buy prebuilt. Or they're Nvidia shills who don't *care* about researching AMD stuff. As for recommendations to newbies building computers just tell them to buy Freesync 2 or Freesync 1 with LFC support and *not* without if they're sensitive to tearing. Or tell them to buy freesync and save them some money without having to argue with them about why this "freesync" thing is actually worth spending money on vs a monitor without any kind of adaptive sync at all since they quite frankly probably don't even know what tearing *is* at that point...

Haven’t watched, (my guess) Might make a small difference if you are on a true g sync monitor with the module vs just a g sync capable monitor (adaptive/freesync monitor). But I doubt you can tell the difference, I just switched from an 570 to a 1070 and my monitor doesn’t “officially” support adaptive sync but it works fine. Both freesync and adaptive sync worked well for me. I only had issues when I used a different resolution second monitor and it would bug out occasionally.

I don't understand this video. You are using 2 different monitors wich have different panels. The freesync monitor looks way cheaper...

dude , if you get ghosting , then the monitor actually can not process 144hz because of grey to grey (thingy ). you should try locking your frames a little bit lower . in most cases , monitors advertised as 144hz can only display something like 120hz . so if you lock your fps even lower , like 110 or maybe 100 or 90 , you might not get ghosting . Besides , does the ghosting appear only when you turn on freesync at 133 fps or not ? you need to test more . this video does not provide enough info

so g-sync works on free-sync but quality of the panel matters as well. You wont get tearing vysnc off or dropped frames with vsync on but you might get annoyed about the blurry ghosting because of the an inferior panel.

G-Sync vs Freesync comparison: > Uses different monitors > Uses different performing GPUs > Isn't aware that Freesync support lower framrate compensation now > Blames shitty panels on Freesync. FFS dude this isn't hard. An actually fair comparison and doing some research shouldn't be a problem

Curious about the type of camera used in recording this video, and type of lens as well, it would be great if you would make us a video about your gearset. Love your content, keep up the good work. Edit: With some tweaking, your video quality could be a lot better. (i.e isolating background, blurring ,etc.)

There's a $500 graphics card difference and the freesync monitor is not as expensive- or good - as the gsync monitor. If money is no object then Intel, Nvidia and Gsync is the way to go for 'pro gamers. For people who have to feed their kids, want to go on a holiday, paying a mortgage then Saving $1000+ Going AMD is a clear option.

i am not mad that the 650€ (germany) card lost to a 1000€ (also germany) card, and yes i know its about the pannel, but price difference in the monitor is still 100 €. so budget high performance is AMD and BALLz 2 the WALLz is Nvida + INTEL. i like both because i love gaming , 1440p gsyc HP Omen with a 6600k and a 1070 GTX and 32gig of ram. but it was more bang at the time (2 years) ago, right now i would wait 4 navi and Ryzen 3000 .

@adfggffffffddffd
@adfggffffffddffd 5 жыл бұрын
So they perform exactly the same and G-sync is just a rip off that Nvidia came up with. Not surprisingly either since the bang for buck for their cards is also not as good as AMD cards. Nvidia only wins with their high end cards like the 2080 ti and the Titan, however those are horrible in terms of price performance but you'll find that the price to performance ratio basically always goes down the higher up in performance you get with ANYTHING. Look at cars for example. You can get a hatch back for $15k but to get a car that goes twice as fast you're going to have to pay at least 3x as much. If you want a car that goes 3x as fast you're going to have to pay 10x as much (at least).

Your conclusion was gsync can be worth it because you spend the $100 more and get a better panel. What if I spent that extra $100 on a freesync panel? Am I getting a better panel than the Gsync monitor then? I think it would be a cool follow up.
@sorenvitarelli
@sorenvitarelli 5 жыл бұрын
@IVAN NEGA What? one of them is a Gsync monitor the other is a Freesync monitor. Neither of the monitors exhibited tearing. The Gsync monitor had a higher quality panel than the Freesync monitor and exhibited less ghosting. Ghosting has nothing to do with Gsync or Freesync, it is caused by pixel response time.
