I recently did the tour and really enjoyed the guide's enthusiasm that she demonstrated when she shared the stories. It was a smaller group which made it easier to hear over the hustle and bustle of the city. I felt bad at the end when several people left without paying. I feel that if you are going to go on a tour and enjoy and experience, then you should contribute, we all gotta pay it forward.

LOVED the storytelling! I could have listened to Sandy all night. I'm a tour guide in Boulder CO and I completely get what Sandy is saying about the sensationalism of horror in the media predisposes ghost tour guests into thinking they are going to see a ghost wielding a knife on every corner. The expectation on ghost tours is set way too high because of the media. I'm an historian and storyteller and I love just telling the stories and the creepy. I don't need the drama and the gore. Thank you so much for creating this video!

I myself have never been to Louisiana but will be traveling next year and will be getting to stay in New Orleans for a good year maybe just a little longer. I've always been intrigued with the city it's self and all of the rich culture and history of the city, the people. I of course want to get to see all of the tourists hot spots and not just all of New Orleans but I also want to see some of the old plantations and the beautiful old homes that are both in the city of New Orleans and in the surrounding areas! I will be working of course while I'm there but in all of my free time I want to spend as much time as possible to learn as much as I can about the city, the people, the religion, the culture! I can remember being five or six years old and my night time bed story that I would always ask for would be the books my Daddy had about New Orleans instilling in me a deel interest and love for a place I've never been but can't wait to immerse myself into all of it!!

I love it! My husband and I love the city, we used to work with the Saint's in the 1990s, my husband was in charge of the computer network for statistics. We got married during the season in 93 and we did our honeymoon in the city. We spent a lot of time at O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub at 508 Toulouse when we were in town. It's now a restaurant. Danny O'Flaherty didn't reopen the pub after Katrina. I fell in love with the place (and the music!) and, when I finally started my writing career, the first book has Danny's pub in it. There's a ghost story attached to the building that I've read about and included in the book. In the 1820s, the building was a private home. Joseph Wheaton had a mistress kept on the 3rd floor of the building. He would go there to see her. His wife found out and he went to break it off, or throw her out, it's not clear what exactly the circumstances were. But the mistress, who I named Angelique, was either pushed or thrown out the window of the 3rd floor apartment. Thing was, Joseph was seen by a young black child and, fearing his wife would leave him and his business would fail, he killed himself in the apartment. It's said that both Joseph and Angelique still haunt the building. In my book, Joseph's wife, Mary Wheaton is also haunting the apartment and the fight is always him against the wife, the mistress against the wife, then the girls gang up on him for the fight. My female vampire, who has been left in the apartment while her rescuer goes to find clothing in the ruined River Walk mall (the night after Katrina) and Joseph comes onto her, before the women show up to gang up on him. I know the story is in some of the tours, we've never taken a tour, but I do a lot of reading and found the story online as well. I would love another ghost story walk by you and Sandy, that was such a great tour.

My husband is completely bald. We once stayed at the hotel adjoining Muriel’s, and a ghost tour kept stopping by our room window. After awhile, my husband started sticking his head out the curtains with his phone flashlight under his chin doing his best ghost impression to give the tours extra bang for their buck. I think that he achieved a total of one confused look from a random woman. 😂 On a serious note, I appreciate the information that you presented about Laulaurie. I love these Free Stories By Foot. As Sandy puts it, you probably wont expect a ghost on these tours but its learning about the history. Which I love! Most people probably won't admit this in the comments but I am a high sensitive intuitive. However it's okay to judge my comment. I have been to the French Quarter but unfortunately my abilities were and can be very distracted by large groups and Mardi Gras certainly didn't help. I will be returning off season very soon and I'm curious about if I'll pick up anything on my second visit. ❤️

Just did the ghost tour with FTBF this past week. Would love to have had Sandy as our guide. While the stories were great, our guide was challenged to give us the best that he could because there were so many various ghost tours taking place at the same time. At one location there were five different groups all jockeying for a position. Our guide had to give us the story while we were looking down the street trying to figure out which building we were supposed to be looking at. And it was a bit harder to hear because the guide was trying not to be too loud in order to not disrupt the other groups in the vicinity...not a courtesy that some of the other tour guides reciprocated. Overall a enjoyable tour but if you are taking it during a busier time of year, be prepared for traffic jams of tours.

As far as Hollywood, one of my favorites that brought voodoo to the front for me was "Skeleton Key". I read the book "The Witching Hour" by Ann Rice. Of course I saw "Interview with a Vampire". However, "The Witching Hour" was the turning point. I read it and it was like I visually saw the Garden District. I had never been to New Orleans, and at that point knew I had to go. I have since been there many times. I call it or feel I have some kind of kindred spirit with New Orleans, maybe all of do that fall in love with the place. I also feel I have a tingle and feeling of ghosts. I have not seen a ghost that I am aware of in New Orleans, but I have felt something. I do think I have seen ghosts in the town I live. There is something special about the above ground burial cemeteries, and than the "Holt Cemetery".

Loved 🥰 the tour! Always wanted to go to New Orleans. To go to the cemeteries 😝 I don’t believe in “ghosts”. So I would be going to look at all the historical beauty. I know I probably triggered a lot of “some people”. Although we all have our own minds and this is only what “I think”. I’ll be back Miss Sandy to give you a definite tip! You deserve it! I wanted to listen to MORE stories 😂 Thanks 🙏🏼 Again Sandy for the best tour! See you soon on Venmo 😉

I absolutely love New Orleans. The food is wonderful! The people are really great. The music is unlike anyother, and completely addicting! Think of Professor longhair & Dr. John! And I had the experience of going to a private party at the Famous Allen Toussaint's home! There are lots of spooky grave yards there, but beautiful graves, for a Metaphysical teacher like me!

I've gone on tours. They don't try to scare you. It's truly a historical tour. Our guide told us we probably wouldn't see a ghost and if we did, she would be the first person out of there. We were told that slaves were found under the first floor.

The documentary Sandy gave about how that woman tortured the slaves is so horrific that not even a show like "American Horror Stories" could capture. It is generally known that such shows embellish history, and their lack of true historical context usually makes it unbelievable. What Sandy told us is so heartbreaking and supported by the historical context, it's hard to imagine anything more brutal and morbidly justified by the times. Thank you for sharing the truths of the past without mincing words. I think people need to know the truth.

Weird thing....I'm an American, but was born in France, and have lived in both St. Louis and New Orleans. So, when a friend suggested we get tattoos when we were in New Orleans, I just got a small Fleur di Lis on my back, since France, St. Louis and New Orleans all use that symbol, plus I've always really liked it. I nearly choked when she said "White people, please DON'T get that tattoo!", since she said it was how they branded enslaved people caught trying to run away! (Oooops, Sorry!)😮😮😮
