When I was a kid fresh out of HS, back in 92/93 I was working at a real estate office in Hawthorne ca and I use to talk to this dude who hung out there, he was a small dude with dreadlocks, who spoke very calmly and direct. We spoke about books I enjoyed reading, art, boxing etc....one day my homie came by the office and his eyes lit up when dude came in the door. He came in said what's up the. Proceeded to ho to the back office with the owner of the real waste firm. As soon as he walked out my homie said "what is freeway Rick doing here" I was confused because I knew of freeway Rick through legendary hood stories and also studied him In a elective class; Criminal Justice. I was like fuck! I've been talking to great Rick everyday m-f and did g even have a fucking clue. The man is very humble and just an overall good dude. Every time I mentinded my desire to run my own street operation he was always quick to point me in another direction and I am thankful for that. After realizing it was him I asked and he confirmed that he is indeed freeway Rick. I had a million questions and he was very candid about the game and rise to the top. I then put 2 and 2 together and realized that he was the boss of that real estate firm, the white dude was just the boss on paper. I moved to N Cali chasing a girl and never saw Rick again. I always wanted to thank him for pointing me away from them streets. I'm a family man, living a good life rich in family values. Thing would've have been much different and less fulfilling had I got involved in the street game. Thank Yoj Rick Ross and god bless you.

I think it's like most cities. If you run with a certain element and make a bunch of money, people know each other, whether friend or foe. The big difference is in L.A. (or NY) there's a really good chance that they will now be connected to the entertainment industry-singers, actors, rapper, etc. It's a lot of crossover between crooks, pimps, drug dealers, pimps and actors/actresses, singers, rappers, etc. , always has been. There's all types of tales of the stuff in '70's and 80's where popular actress dated pmps or drug dealers or whatever. I mean, the mention Dick Griffey and Solaar Records, I've heard a lot of stories about him. From my understanding the founders of Sugar hill Record was in some illegal stuff and using the record iz as a front. It's always been like that and those people will know each other.
