EP1 of the MOBILITY MATTERS series - no better way to start than by telling the story of the ‘CHEONGGYECHEON STREAM’: How Seoul demolished a traffic congested multi-lane highway to restore an Ancient River System which now serves as an important urban green space.
'MOBILITY MATTERS' is a series of short-films documenting urban mobility systems around the world… because Mobility Matters, right?
Through this series I seek to find a certain harmony between my personal passion for video production and professional career (I am a full-time transport planner).
If you or your city have interesting MOBILITY STORIES worth documenting please share with me!
Stay tuned for EP2.

Re-sharing a reddit comment: "Cities are always considered hectic and fast-paced, but projects like this remind and allow us to see that there is more to life than working. It's about enjoying the little things in life, like walking next to a river while talking with your friends." true words from: RealAstroTimeYT It is worth pointing out that they did this only after building out the subway system, expanding the bus system, as well as, the existing highway system so it wasn't a traffic disaster. Here are some other nice examples: - Utrecht (Netherlands): www.reddit.com/r/OldPhotosInRealLife/comments/hf01jh/utrecht_netherlands_1982_vs_2020_they_converted/ - Rio De Janeiro (Brazil): twitter.com/trilavier/status/1489456369719668737 - Madrid (Spain) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4DKoGellMaZpLc&ab_channel=msamperesp - Wikipedia list of projects: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylighting_(streams) Feedback from a Redditors: *the white transition flashes are too much (if you think so too, I will tone it back in future videos). 👍

This is an amazing and informational video, thank you! I wish we could do big projects like this where I live and improve the community space here in America, but it's such a non-starter here. I'm glad the city of Seoul pushed through for this restoration project and improved everyone's quality of life, even if only minuscule :))

Do you have the source of the increase in shops sales due to the removal of the highway? I am studying this phenomena for my university and I would like to add this example to my studies, thanks!
