Geez what a huge amount of trucks in the other direction in the first minute!

@Rymac91 In Ontario, green is used on most freeways (and highways) just like in the United States. But the blue is used in two cases. It is used on toll freeways as is the case in this video. The toll freeway is the 407 ETR (express toll route), an entirely automated toll freeway and the only one in Ontario. The signs you see are at the 407 ETR interchange with Hwy 403. They are all blue along Hwy 407.

@Rymac91 The second case is on what we call express/collector freeways. Good examples in Ontario are Highways 401 and 427 in Toronto. Express lanes have the standard green signage while the collector lanes have blue signage. Watch FreewayBrent's Highway 401 East video to get the idea. The express and collector lanes are separate from each other. Collector lanes are for local traffic and have more interchanges. Express have fewer exits and put you onto the collectors in order to exit there.

The reason for the massive number of trucks is because the QEW eventually heads toward the U.S., right by Niagara Falls.

@ALuimes Quebec Hwy 185 is becoming Autoroute 85 wherever it is 4-laned into a freeway.

@911GeorgeBush: So I've heard. I wanted to get out to Hamilton, but traffic on the QEW was horrendous, and after a few miles, I gave up and promptly returned to Toronto.

As a whole I'd agree with you, it just seemed Toronto has a nice grid with some well thought out designs with regards to the roads themselves.

Notice at 2:42 in the median there is a space where the OPP park their cruisers to catch speeders in the HOV lane.

@FreewayBrent I I'm referring to the A-85, which is being built by twinning the 2-lane QC Hwy. 85. That will connect A-20 (Quebec continuation of the 401) with the new twinned section of the Trans-Canada in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

@ALuimes: Hey, I never actually thought of it like that. What specific stretch of Quebec autoroute are you referring to, that would mark a complete freeway for 1,500+ miles?

oh yea, i loved this highway last year too, good video!

@partydude9999 Actually, the continuous Canadian freeway system is a lot bigger than just Ontario. Once a gap in Quebec is completed shortly, there will be a freeway 1500 miles long between ON and Nova Scotia (of which the 401 is the westernmost leg), possibly the longest stretch of freeway outside the US or EU. Because Canada doesn't have a national road system, this fact is often not recocnized.

I can’t believe how much Mississauga has developed in the last decade. Mississauga at Mavis road in 2009 looked so plain, but if you go there now, there are a bunch more of buildings and way more traffic

Excellent video, nice interchange at the end. Is it me or do these Toronto area freeways seem to be really well planned/thought out, unlike some American cities?

@danielgirotto Actually I-10 across Texas is longer in terms of falling under one government jurisdiction. The collector express system is the longest in the world.

I know what you mean, regarding the music. I really do feel that with my videos sped up 3.6 - 3.8x, that dance music works best. I might experiment with some rock songs in the future, though, just to switch it up. Toronto is definitely a great city. I'd love to live there for a year or two, no doubt about it.

@TheXenProject: That would be correct. :-)

Cool video! It's interesting looking at Canadian highways. Though I have to ask, what is the difference between the green signs and the blue signs?
