Happens to all of us and it was a good flight in windy conditions! This bird needs consistent speed on turns and landings as it will give you a subtle warning that will pretty much look like around 02:52 does - that's its stall warning right before it drops the wing and loses altitude fast. Luckily this plane has a LOT of power so if you catch it you can go full military power and usually punch through it. For those watching and not as experienced as FatGuyFliesRc - Gyro is your friend with this plane - use it - it was designed for it and will make your landings so much less knee shaking!

It was the flare. If he maintained the nose angle and just lowered (not chopped) the throttle, it would have touched down just fine. Instead the flare caused the lift to increase, and the angle-of-attack at that speed (which was dropping with no throttle change) initiated a stall ...

Watch minute 2:50-2:55. Textbook low speed stall warning. If you had a good spotter he or she would have been yelling stall stall stall. Go around. A pre stall is so much easer to react to when your not the one flying it. Most scale jets require higher speed greased landings. Especially in high wind. The wind had a big roll in the sudden drop in air speed. Don't be afraid to fly a scale jet. Practice high speed landing on your sim. and punch out/go around if you see the telltale wing waggle. Also set your c.g. to the nose heavy end of the spec. in high wind. Neutral c.g. in light to no wind.

Hahahaha !! Wow, that was a jaw dropper! I cannot believe how fast and hard that bird dropped her wing. All you did was pitch up 15 degrees and then BLAMMO! The F14 has the widest wingspan to length ratio. when it yaws to the right, the right wing loses almost all of its lift (because the edge is no longer facing forward) A lot of peeps land with the wings swept back about halfway so they can land with more alpha. The actual F14 has speed brakes at the very back of the aircraft that keep the nose pointed forward (can't flat spin with those deployed)

After watching a few videos of this same Jet flown by many experienced pilots like you, flying more jets then you can count on your fingers 👉... Let me to the conclusion that this jet can not be flared to early and certainly not flown without a gyro. Needs to come in under power , nose level and not flared until wheels are just about touching the runway. Flies on a rail , very locked in but equally touchy. Thanks for sharing. It might save a few owners of this bird a hard lesson in a dirt bath. Sorry to see you get bit like that. 😢
@georgehopper45357 ай бұрын
I made this mistake for at least a decade before I figured out the cause. Sum, if not all jets stall with to much elevator throw. Test it out up high. Keep it up high so you have time to recover. Once it stops stalling, record that elv. setting and mechanically set your max throw. 100% setting on radio.
@TwoBrosRC7 ай бұрын
@@georgehopper4535 That's unfortunately not going to fix the stall seen here. The jet will stall earlier at lower speeds at a given angle of attack. Electrically preventing the stabs from moving to an arbitrary point doesn't stop that from happening.
