My little sister was hopping trains for a few years up and down the East Coast. Its been about 10 years but she had a lot of good stories from those days. I would hop a train into town and back in the early 90’s. Nothing like my sisters adventures but I did that a lot.

@@gravedigga314 nah, no need to retire, I'd miss your train videos so much. This isnt the great depression anymore. we have just as much as a right to the rails as they do. With all the resources available for homeless travelers and people without jobs, no one really has a life or death excuse to be riding anymore, including all these ftra people. So in the end, they have just as good as a reason as we do to hop trains lol. We all do it for our own reasons, even if its just recreationally. Cant wait till your next video : )

Agreed. just joking about retirement. 😄🍻. I work, earn money, pay my bills, and earn free time to enjoy my life before age restricts me. My motivation is personal enjoyment 1st and youtube views 2nd. My salary doesn't cover all my adventure expenses though. Like your logic too. Only criminals hop freight trains out of necessity. Programs exist for bums who wont work to earn a living. Hobo code clearly encourages a work ethic. Really enjoy your videos too. when is the next one? ✌🏼

My father grew up in the Mississippi Delta, and he told us about him and his brothers and sisters and friends, hopping on freight trains, and riding them to high school and back home in the evenings, and they all knew the best places to get on and off. He said back then, the conductors and engineers didn't even care and knew they were doing it.

My grandma who just passed away at 94 years old back in July grew up in Shaw skene Cleveland Mississippi My mom was born and raised until 19 and when she met my dad who was from council bluffs Iowa and that's how I came in the picture I got three older siblings but we're all from council bluffs Iowa I live in Olive Branch Mississippi right now with my aunt which is my mom's sister❤❤❤❤ I grew up my whole life I'm 39 years old going to Cleveland Mississippi all around the Delta

Yeah, use to be a water tank there too. Trains get sided there sometimes even now. You can get off and get a drink f you had to. I’ve also walked across that bridge over 24 and fished the cave from a bass boat. Very nice around there. Just don’t tell anyone lol

What you have labeled as Lookout Mountain was actually Signal Mountain or Waldren's Ridge. Lookout is closer to Chattanooga and would have been on the left side of the northbound train you were riding.

That is Nickajack Cave. Before it was flooded Johnny Cash went in there contemplating life. After a while he decided to come out but was in total darkness deep in the cave. He made it out by following the wind coming into the cave.

@@justinarnett9873 Bring Newpaper. Wet first to take off some pressure. Put newspaper on floor of ride and lean against wall. Be careful about how it will fall. You don't want it falling on your shoes or pants. Wipe and place soiled paper on top. Fold it all up and throw it off the train. It also works while camping leaning against trees or rocks. Then you can cover it up with dirt.

I'd assume that who ever I talk to would let the right people know that a random person called asking for track layouts/directions and then that would probably cause the railroad cops to be even more vigilant for train jumpers!

I don’t know if I could tolerate laying on a moving steel monster for hours with just a thin pad underneath! Glad you can though because the views you’ve shared here are worth it. Only question I have about riding is what do you do when you get to any destination? What’s the appeal of a place versus the one you just left? Stobe would wander around and say “nothing going on here.” Most places in the USA are about the same. I guess it’s just the journey itself, the logistical challenges and serendipitous experiences along the way? Maybe I just answered my own question.
