This video shows off Lochinvar Station which will be featured in our "Trains in the Hunter Valley Part 2" Video!
Lochinvar railway station sits along the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia, and began serving the local community on July 2, 1860. Initially, it held a significant role as the primary stop on the Great Northern Railway's extension from Maitland. However, its status shifted in March 1862 when the railway line expanded further, reaching Greta and altering Lochinvar's position as the final destination along the line. This change marked a shift in its role, as Lochinvar ceased to be the end stop but continued to play a vital part in connecting people and goods within the region's transportation network. Despite losing its terminus status, Lochinvar station remained an essential waypoint for travelers and goods, contributing to the ongoing growth and accessibility of the area. Its evolution reflects the dynamic changes that have shaped the history of transportation in New South Wales, showcasing its adaptability and enduring importance within the region's railway infrastructure.
