The famous Luxembourgish shopping bags are all made from recycled plastic. They even come with the label: "If I am damaged, you can replace me for free" or "Wann ech futti sinn, kënnt dir mech gratis ëmtauschen" in Luxembourgish. That's the kind of circular bag that I support, I have a lot of them and use them for EVERYTHING. And until now, I never had one break on me. Quality you can count on, true lifetime warranty. I hope Freitag will reach this milestone too.

Polyamide is often called nylon, it's not some new material. Since the bag it self can be recycled is it also constructed out of recycle material?
@JalictАй бұрын
Super important comment. While they communicate circular- and recycling as business values, then they still try to sell you "new" things. They should just use common words for such video. With that said I applaud their work and what they are trying to do here :)

Yeah I wanna know if we can just toss a bunch of existing nylon clothing into their shredder/melter system and pump out products. If so, this is amazing. If not--if it requires some kind of highly specific type of nylon--then this is just adding more crap to 'the cycle.' Still a great concept either way though.

I really like projects like this, and the bags look great. question: you mention that "repair" is part of the ethos. if a buckle breaks on my bag, I will not buy a new bag, i will repair the buckle. are there there restrictions on the nature of repairs? for example, does the use of certain adhesives disqualify the bag for return?
@BicycleFunkАй бұрын
Presumably you can order parts for repair. What would be smart is if the bag came with a little kit. Lots of good products include something like this.

Bring back to recycle will have any rebate? Vouchers ?
@IrnbruistАй бұрын
noble cause but we consume anyways too much, and this recycle process also uses a lot of energy! Will be interesting how many really will bring back this bag after ten years, quite sure they will forget or the process to recycle them has already changed too much…

BEAUTIFUL - incredible achievements as a brand and example for so many years now, and only getting better as you grow. hats off

Incentivize me to be part. A %25 off next bag for sending mine in. Or wilder yet. A "lifetime buy" where as long as I send in my previous bag, I get new bag I just pay shipping... You'd have to price point that and make it so consumers trust the warranty process like that but could totally be done

thinking that in a bigger scale: wouldn‘t be metal zippers and hooks still ok? minimal disassembly needed and still a circular usage… and what about other materials? non-plastic ones would be super - less micro plastics overall … creating a product lifecycle is a necessary step and companies should be obligated to take their stuff back (no matter if broken or not) in order to integrate responsibility in the companies mindset. … on a global scale (watch the „history of stuff“)
@WesHawkins0Ай бұрын
If the zippers and such were metal (or any other material from the main bag) they'd have to be separated from the bag before being processed. If the whole bag is one material, they just throw the whole sucker into the shredder/melter and that's it. I imagine that simplicity reduces cost.
@iham1313Ай бұрын
@@WesHawkins0 metal can be shredded too and the shreds can be filtered using magnets and recycled. I get the point and still don’t like plastic stuff. reusing it as often as possible is a good start.

You didn't mention the chemical layers of the fabric, is that also recyclable? I don't think so.

I think you maybe confusing recyclable and bio degradable.
