This video is great, so many artists wonder why they cant improve even after years of practice, but then refuse to practice fundamentals. Also getting off social media has improved my art output and happiness in general an incredible amount. I have never been more motivated to create & actually fully finish pieces since being unplugged. Not nearly enough people talk about how much time we spend online consuming algorithmic rage-bait can be spent doing something nice for ourselves or working towards our personal goals instead. You def gained a new subscriber, and I can see you gaining many more in the future!!

Good tips for art and life. I won't be deleting KZbin or TikTok. Because I have learned you can watch like one to two videos at a time or have a long video play while I practice singing. I agree many people need to delete off everything and go live in a cell for like a year. I did that and now I want to learn how to draw what I saw.

what he said at 6:36 and throughout the rest of the video really opened my eyes to how and why I've been struggling with art so much.

2:58 - I only started my art journey a month ago but quickly discovered WLOP and had a look at his workflow. Seeing him work, immediately made me realize that I have to step away from using measurements that I learned in an Udemy anatomy course.

this helped me realize that im already doing a lot of these things consciously and subconsciously (observation) and ive been improving a LOT more than i thought i was. (comparing myself from 2021-now) i was genuinely second guessing myself as an artist, so thank you. (u_u)

Wait so you're telling me, this video doesn't have a thousnads of views? This just opened my eyes and your video helped me so much in realizing what exactly I was doing. Especially the grouping all fundamentals into one singular thing, it's pretty stressful but I'm organizing my thoughts thanks to you. And the internet rotting your brain part of the video was just. Holy shit, I never expected an art tutorial to analyze me and other people's psychology.

6:12 I don't think 15k hours on games is a waste of time. Sure you can look back and say "Woah! I wasted so much on [...] rather than that I could've practiced." My reasoning is back then you didn't have the mindset you have right now to say "I'm wasting my time". Basically ask yourself did those 15k hours spend on videogames made me happy?

Gaming really made me happy as a kid that helped handle depression and stuff like that, so I don't regret coping with gaming. Now I'm more focused on improving my skills as an artist, but I still really love games but I just don't have the intention span or the time to constantly play them. I may be play like five games a year.

Funnily, when you get even more experienced, you will realize that in the thumbnail, the better drawing is the one of the left 😂 and it will be hard to get back to that spontaneity and expressiveness, especially if you only focus on techniques and execution. But young people starting into art won't listen 😅 gotta learn from mistakes. Your execution won't matter if it comes out as stiff and liveless. Learning to draw impressions is how artist find their expression. Look at Hidalgo Mialga art for example, the original designer of spider verse.
