because in some countries it is illegal to transfer a body from one coffin to another out of respect for the dead.

At 5m when the retort door opens there is a serious amount of skeletal remains and the staff member has the unenvious task of raking these remains into the lower retort to cool down before they enter the pulveriser and reduced to what we know as ashes, unfortunately I don't speak the language of the subtitles but I'm thinking that the deceased was an obese person or and I know I'm profusely wrong that two bodies entered the retort judging by the amount of skeletal remains.I must be wrong however if anyone can translate into English the subtitles I'd be astonished reading the translation and I'm sure I'm not on my own, thank you please forgive me if I came over rather morbid but I'm really not just curious but I want to know no doubt like many other KZbinrs.

Bones of an obese person would be no different in size to a fit person... bones don't store fat or gain weight so the bones can't indicate whether or not the person was obese.

It's probably due to the solid wood casket that they were cremated in. So it's a lot of wood ash along with the bones.

It makes no sense to cremate bodies in wooden coffins. In the US the bodies are placed in cardboard-like cover.

There's an idea that I've heard about the UK. The body is first put in a cardboard coffin, with then is put in a wooden one. When it's time for the cremation, the end of the wooden is open at the cardboard coffin is slid out. The wooden coffin then can be done up and reused.

and we dont. it makes sense not to move a body out of their coffin. the family payed for it. and to be honest, would you want to be buried in the same coffin someone else was previously laying in? Not moving the body is just out of respect for the dead and the coffin is never going to be used by anyone else.

Why gruesome?i have been behind the scenes at a Crematorium in London...many have open days so inquire in your area.I found it interesting ,i felt sad for the bereaved however.The staff were respectful and willing to answer questions.We were shown everything just like you see here.

I have been to a couple of open days myself.I found it interesting,we were encouraged to ask questions by the staff.There were some individuals who found some aspects of the process difficult and they walked out.You look at some of the videos on YT and they are not giving a good impression really,bodies placed in boxes without a funeral service and placed in to what appear to be industrial furnaces or in other cases the bodies are removed from the coffin prior to burning.

Let's face it, being cremated is much cleaner and cheaper than being buried. Fire is the best way to "purify" one's body and turn it into dust within two hours. 🔥⚱ The vision of a buried body rotting in its coffin for years instead of being cremated is just sad and horrible... 😱

No? You rather lie 2 meters under the ground, slowly rotting away? In pitch darkness? And what about the idea of waking up in you casket 2 meters under the ground? Cremation or burying: The process is the same. Cremation is a lot cleaner, it goes a lot faster and your family doesn't have to pay for your grave each year. Besides, rather a nice hot oven than an frigged casket 2 meters under the ground.

If we are dead, we don't notice anything anymore. But i like to be cremated because i don't like to rot away. So nasty. And besides that: I i've been cremated, i can be spread out anywhere i wish. Better one day for many minutes in a little hot space and in a grinder and after that short capture being free, then for years under the cold ground and being grinded after many many years on a grinder (the left bones). I know for shore: I wan't to be cremated, or being freeze drying, but not being burried in a case.

Snowwie88 Wel at least burial is a natural way to go, its how it is supposed to be. Its not nasty, not all corpses rot away, ever heard of embalming?? And by the way not everybody is buried under the ground, you have Masoleums and concrete graves. Cremation is sad and disrespectful for the bodies, its like treating trash. No wonder most religions are against cremation, its a abomination and looks like hell fire. With burials you dont at least get treated like trash but as a once human being, people can come visit your place and put flowers and still give respect and remember you.

well I'm not sure it's the sort of job i would want. Given that I want to cremated rather interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. Surprising how much of the skeleton remains after all the organs and body tissues have been burned and yet once it's all be broken up and then ground down, you fit in to something not much larger than a jam jar. I see burning a wooden coffin as such a waste so I would opt for something like cardboard or wicker when the time comes.

In Europe, they don't transfer the body from a coffin to a cardboard container, like they do in the United States. Most coffins are wood in Europe, because that coffin is used for both burial and cremation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is in the UK, bodies are not allowed to be transferred from a regular coffin to another type of coffin. I don't know if traditional coffins over there are used for direct cremation. So I expect ashes to be a combination of wood and ground bones. At least the in United States, its almost all ground up bones, and maybe traces of cardboard.

Never seen a cremation before. It's interesting to see how it works. I want to be cremated when i am dead, it's now on my codicil. First i want to be buried, from an Italian idea to being food for a young tree you can choose by life. You can be placed in a cocoon in fetal position and then you are food for the tree, so you can "live" further as a tree. Wonderful idea, but i don't like the idea to rot away, so i have now the decision to be cremated. If you going in there and being burned, you don't notice anything, so why would you fear a cremation? You're dead, so you don't feel anything of it. And it seems disrespectful, or like disrespectful work, but it's not if the person who choose their wish to be cremated when you are still alive. In the end you coming out again and then you're being by your loved ones or being on the place you wish. And i know for shore, the people who work in the crematorium and put you in and out, they do it with care and with love, not because they like to burn you down. That's because they fulfill your wish by life and to help you on your last beautiful place you finally belong. After my cremation, i would like to be spread out in the green fields near the trees or just a little bit under the gras in the ground, so i am one with nature another way, also near the trees and the grass and the living insects and animals. I love to be one with nature in the end. The only thing i would change the choice of cremation is freeze drying. Freeze drying is a Swedish idea, but only if you can being burried in the ground without a case.

Check your law in your state. Even if you request cremation your relatives can still bury you. Michigan laws stink.
