Making a 45-degree "false table" that slips onto my rip fence to do long cuts on boards for French cleat without tilting the table saw blade.

Nice mental and physical skill exercise. Very clever indeed. I had to rewind to watch around 5:19, your scrap piece throwing skill. Commendable! One last thing, glad utube gives the option of watching a good video without the sound🙏

doing this cut on the jig without a riving knife is a sure shot hazard. You have a very high chance of pinching with wider pieces of lumber, due to gravity. Need the riving knife to stop that pinching.

Valid point. Luckily I haven't had any issues yet.

Great idea but I have issues with the NO SAFETY practices you indulge in while achieving this. Using and passing your bare hands too close to the circular saw blade is pre-risky and shouldn't be encouraged. Just my observations though

I understand and appreciate your concern. The only thing I aim to encourage in my videos is to repurpose and reuse materials. I’ll start adding a disclaimer at the intro to my videos to NOT do things HOW I do it since they might not be the safest practice. I’ve been working with power tools since I was a kid and have a level of comfort at close proximity that others, like yourself, might not share or agree with. Again, thank you for your concern and I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video.

I like your content sir, keep it up. You deserve a sub. This jig works on diy table saw that is difficult to calibrate 45° cut. I like it.

you hate turning the handle to set the saw 45° but it's ok assemble and dismantle huge jig... plus, it only works on 45° at the edge of the board, if you want to cut 2 french cleats from the same board, you will have to tild your blade hu? serious Khabane Lame candidate ^^ although, funny video, good entertainment

His table saw might be like mine , just can’t reach 45 degrees, I just built on like he did and it works great, I build a lot of boxes and mostly have a 45 corners and this works great

@@jamespolucha6911 good to know, maybe a good T-bevel or square helps... when I want a good french cleat, I cut the almost 45° then I use a 45° router bit for precision.
