Sorry you lost your freind. But happy he still is on your mind and you remember the good times. Maybe hard, but good. I was a combat engineer in the Danish army for 11 years, so not like the legion, but still a soldier. I talked to and work a bit with legioners in Kosovo in 2001/2002 I was a bit scared of them, because of all the stories we hear, but went over to some of them a politely said hello. I didnt ask about the legion, because I thought they always were asked the same 4 questions, so we talked just about work and more laid back things. They were all very nice to me. Some didnt speek english, but were nice and stayid while i talked to the others. It had to be a seriously hard job you guys did and in some shitholes around the world, Where the legion went, so we didnt have to. Thanks for your service for the legion and fighting the good fight.

Enfin souvenir, le mot est grand, je n'ai jamais autant picolé de ma vie, rien que d'y penser mon estomac se retourne ^^. What's up brother. I appreciate you sharing this stuff with people. Now, is it hard for a guy in his late 20's to join the legion? Is it hard to adapt and compete with all these young bucks?
@bravobase68014 жыл бұрын
No it's not hard and it's not a competition. If you can pull your own weight and not slow everyone else down then you will be just fine.. I know one or 2 guys that were in their 30s and they managed just fine...
@anonimus88704 жыл бұрын
Not a competition per se, but I guess during the selection process, they lean toward younger guys.
@bravobase68014 жыл бұрын
Not exactly.. if you got the right state of mind and are more for it I can guarantee you they not going to look at the age difference.. they ant guys that are going to give their all. It's an investment at the end of the day so if you can convince them that it's what you really want I'm telling you they will take you in.. just as long as you are medically fit and can handle yourself
@anonimus88704 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. I had my suspicions when it comes to joining at that age and adapting to a regiment with mostly young guys. I asked 2 legionaries from Serbia whether they have any regrets about the legion or not, and both of them said the only thing they regret is not joining when they were much younger. They were 26-27 when they joined. Anyway, thanks again and I am sorry for your friend... I just read an article about him, he was a true hero.

Well if you were in the army you will have a better understanding of certain things and it will be to your advantage. But yes it is hard it's a hard life and what gets to most people in the legion is in fact the freedom and being fucked over by the army in ref to RnR. @bravobase68014 жыл бұрын
Man I dont even know what scoliosis surgery is but I will look it up.. All I can say is if there are very big visible scars they will question you about them and if you have had surgery then it would help you a great deal if you took a letter from a doctor stating that you had surgery and you have recovered fully and are capable of handling whatever.. I cant tell you if they will take you or not. When guys try out for the legion and get told to go home, they are not given a reason as to why they did not get in..

Do they provide housing or anything like that and how much time would you spend with your family like nights and weekends or what jw
@bravobase68014 жыл бұрын
No they do not provide housing of any sort. If you were to join and to bring your family to France then you would pay for your own apartment. You are allowed out at 18h00 depending on whether your orders have come out yet and that is never at 18h00 sometimes as late as 22h00. If you're lucky then you get your orders early and you can leave regiment but be sure to be back for morning roll call. It also depends on whether or not you are on service "Guard 24 or patrol etc. You might be away on terrain on excercises for 5 weeks at a time or on deployment. It will be hard for you to have a life with your family but it is possible. You will just be limited.. if you are in regiment and do not have service or anything then yes your wknds are free and you can do what you please.. and ofcourse there is RnR but also changes as they please

Hi Bravo Base. How true is it that 2e REI and 1e REG are having more deployment morethan the other Regiments? How often did they sent you for deployment in your 5 years? Thank you
@bravobase68014 жыл бұрын
1 REG and 1 REC rotate the most.. wherever an infantry unit goes there must always be an engineer detachment so that is why 1REG rotates so much because wherever 13 demi Brigade, 2REI or 2REP go there must always be a detachment from engineers.. 1 REC moves just as much. There are alot of rotations taking place in 2REI. So the regiment has constantly got a company on deployment
