Warehouse Manager, Shaw, gives us a closer look at a French Gras carbine and a Gras rifle (musketoon). He shows us a bit of the condition as an example of how they came out of the Ethiopian stash of weapons. These may have been the first acquisition of Haile Selassie when he first rose to political power in Ethiopia (formerly Abyssinia). We also share some history about the Emperor Haile Selassie in correlationto these weapons.

Ethiopia was really taking any rifles they could get back then I’ve seen Ethiopia using a myriad of Mausers , mosins , Carcano, SMLEs , rolling blocks , m1889 lebels and more🇪🇹

Iirc the Gras was actually one of the more popular rifles among the Ethiopians, especially in the first Italo-Abyssinian War when there weren't as many repeating rifles.

The gras is literally an adaptation of another rifle, the Fusil modèle 1866 that was converted to fire center fire cartridges loaded with black powder. So yes.
