Bien joué !! With so much dedication & interest in learning Karnatic music, this French Vidushi has excelled in her endeavor. When it is so tough for Indians ( North Indians cannot sing Karnatic music) she has come out with flying colors. There are many percussionists ( mridangam /ghatam /Kanjira) from America & Europe, but vocalists are very very less ( Except we had Sri John B Higgins who had excelled in Carnatic vocal) I hope this French Vidushi will perform more such concerts & make us to hear her voice again. But then Sri T M Krishna visited their house in Paris and I think stayed with them for a few days. He taught her a few lessons and she was immediately enamored of Carnatic music. She loved it. Very creditable. My earnest wish is to see an artist from a state other than Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana perform a classical Carnatic music concert. If an American (Jon B. Higgins) and this French lady can perform, it should not be that difficult for Indians from other Indian states to perform, right? By the way, Jon Higgins, whom I escorted as a liaison during his visit arranged by USIS in India, told me that his guru Sri T. Vishwanathan insisted that he learn Telugu well. Much of Carnatic music composed by Sri Thyagaraja is in Telugu. Higgins nor only understood but also pronounced the Telugu lyrics well . That is very different level of commitment.
