I don't agree with french on the Kendrick question. I feel like street rap ain't selling like Kendrick is selling because Kendrick actually has quality music with substance. Rappers like french and the other street rappers all use the same formula. they get the same producers to make the same beats and get the same rappers to make the same hooks and they get the same outcome. it's boring. why buy it when the next man gone make the exact same album/mixtape? wake up french. street rappers back in the 2000s still gave you substance, not just nonsense. there ain't no more messages in today's street rap. just drug use

Premier has always had that New York sound, especially with Gang Starr and Guru rapping over his beats, Guru is easily one of the best rappers of all time btw, but Premier is from Houston baby, where legends are born. And the funny thing is Guru was from Boston, but their music had such a classic NYC sound and I believe they both did live in NYC before they blew up for a while, so ppl thought or assumed they were from one of the NYC burroughs. They had a 90's Brooklyn sound. To me Premiere is the greatest producer of all time. J DIlla is up there, Timbaland, Pete Rock, and without a doubt RZA. To me RZA and TImbaland are the most influential producers in hip-hop . Of course Pharell is way up, but purely hip-hop I wouldn't put Pharell in the same conversation as a RZA or Premiere, but Pharell and Timbo cross over better than any producers maybe ever in the music industry. But pure hip-hop it's hard to out due Premier, RZA and Pete Rock.

Much respect to French but he sound a little salty or confused. How could he think they're tagging Kendrick as the new face of hip hop when it's clear that Drake is the most popular "rapper" at the moment. Great music will always be recognized and if Kendrick music and message sound different from the rest of the game it will obviously make it easier for outsiders to focus on. People get tired of the trap lean party rap, can't be mad for someone wanting to be different.
