I'm 26 years and started drinking when I was 12 years old as well... my grandfather lost his leg and had to get his leg amputated because of diabetes from drinking.. sometimes I wonder if alcoholism can ever be conquered or if the key is to stop and let your body take a break then when you feel like you have been away from the drink for so long that when you do finally decide to take a drink it won't have so much power over you and it will just be something you do recreationally and not in excess, but before you get to that point your body and mind have to learn how to be without it

I've been drinking since a teenager, I'm now 40 years old. I really want to drink occasionally...I believe I can drink in moderation and I believe doing so will prove a lot. The addiction has to be broken. I shouldn't have to completely stop drinking all because I've been abusing it for so long.
