I am a French pensionnist. I just finished to read a book taking place in Charleston ; as I often do, I went on youtube to see what it looks in reality. I like your video because there is a lot of informations. I surely would not mind hanging around a few days in this French Quarter. Merci beaucoup.

Very nice walking tour of one of Charleston's best neighborhoods! Shows off great churches (I have attended a service at the Circular Congregational Church, as well as visited its graveyard and the one outside St Philip's Church). I love this area, and I really enjoyed the brief interview with Robert Lange, and his attitude toward art. I will be sure to visit his gallery on an upcoming visit - along with when I move to SC - either Charleston or Beaufort. Thanks for sharing!

The whole notion of Charleston having a "French Quarter" is a bit disingenuous. The town was founded by the English and was never a French settlement like New Orleans. When people think of the "French Quarter" they picture New Orleans. Yes Charleston had many French people in the early days who built one of the most beautiful churches in the city. But there is no real French Quarter like New Orleans with overhanging porches and narrow streets. I think that the notion of Charleston having a "French Quarter" is more of a way to attract tourists. But Charleston does not need to do that. It totally stands on its own as one of the most amazing cities in the country. I absolutely love Charleston.
