Before the music starts, little Angelina (6 years old) makes a gesture showing that music is in her blood. She is not intimidated at all, but already fearless and totally focused. Her vibratos are impressive, natural, and she says to grandma, with her thumb up, not to worry: i got it, everything is going according to plan! But, she knows she screws up in the middle part of the lyrics, so, when she is being told about that little mistake, she laughs, meaning don t worry, i ll fix that next time. Thank you, Marie, for reacting to that moment in time where Angelina takes her first (?) steps in a studio to announce to the world that she is here to stay!

This young girl decides she wants to be a super star and starts singing to prove it before most could have identified a life purpose. Now add a family structure and members so open to supporting and encouraging and loving her enough to throw themselves into the adventure. There must have been so many tough decisions along the way and from my view could not have turned out better. I will follow this young woman and her travels for life !

@xpost93814 жыл бұрын
Well, your story why Angelina speaks English is a bit strange..... "..... consequence of his engineering career". Her dad is Swedish and as everybody else in Scandinavia he learned English at school - not because of a career. Any 10-12 year old kid know English .... and few have had an engineering career before that age. Why should anyone in Angelina's home go around - speaking English ( there are no one with English speaking background ) - when they can speak their own language - Norwegian/Swedish....???
@markhansen79984 жыл бұрын
I was referring to the fact the language of international business is English by and large, and that she grew up learning both languages in school and at home. Likely she knows a bit of Farsi and Japanese as well.
@xpost93814 жыл бұрын
@@markhansen7998 Well, .... I just pointed out this with language and "...consequence of engineering career" because I don't see the logic and the connection. Even if a person is speaking English with someone at work that doesn't make his/her child learn English automatically. Angelina was a small child and has nothing with "international business" to do. The language spoken among engineers in Norway is Norwegian. It would be strange if they normally spoke English in their home, but maybe you know otherwise.... As I said English is learned at school - even kindergarden. TV series with English language have subtitles/not dubbed and internet is dominated with English language. This is how all kids learn English. So concerning language there is nothing special with Angelina. I might also have heard that Angelina/family had a shorter stay in USA - that might have helped in her learning English. Then I mean she might have picked up something through direct interaction and not as a consequence of what her parents was doing....
@wajj18424 жыл бұрын
And she spent a year or so in the U. S. at age 3, where she was emerged in the English language. That's why (IMO) she speaks it today with no Norwegian accent.

@@markhansen7998 I would guess that she is also fluent in Farsi, because she was able to carry on a conversation with that little shoeless orphan girl in Tehran, and her Grandmother's native language is probably Farsi.

Actually Angelina Jordan grew up with at least three languages. Her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar (born in 1984), is the daughter of Iranian artist Mery Zamani (born in 1961) and a Japanese father. Her father is Swedish. Angelina grew up in Los Angeles as well as in Oslo, always listening to old Jazz songs since she was 1 and a half! She has a younger sister who can be seen in many videos of Angelina (e.g. in "Valerie"). Angelina already wrote some originals like "Oslo", "What is Life" and "Shield". Often she makes her own arrangements (like in "Bohemian Rhapsody" and/or make her covers with own texts (like in the Amy Whinehouse songs). One of my favorites today is "I´m still holding out for you", even when this song is rather unknown, because of the sad text at the end.

I've been following her for 5+ years. This one is so special not because of the sound quality, but it shows her maturity, joy and excitement of singing, and her ability to select very special jazz songs to sing. Its always been hard to not say - 'at such a young age'. :)

@4:25 Angelina: "How was that?" producer: "It was great...to be first attempt". "How do you feel it went?". Bit hard to catch what Angelina is saying, but she says something about a sentence. This is a great video to go to for a look at Angelina's beginnings. It's not 100% polished at this point (which is what they are discussing at the end there), but you can already hear how great she is going to become. At such a young age, she already has this innate ability to put the proper feeling behind the words. This was done in the studio the art school in her home town. If you are looking at the list that I think you are, you definitely have to do the next one (Gloomy Sunday on NGT). It is the performance that officially introduced Angelina to the world, and it is incredible how well she is able to capture the sounds of Billie Holiday. I look forward to you continuing to discover the magic of Angelina. She is never going to disappoint.

@RustyShacklefordChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@xpost9381 Actually, I label any city, town, village, borough, hamlet, municipality, township, or district that someone comes from as their "hometown" (perhaps wrongly so). But my geography is fairly strong. I will often open google earth and just explore the world for hours... just for fun. I can point out all the countries of Asia, Europe, and South America. I can't seem to get all the African countries down yet. Google earth is one of my favorite things. It is great she got early experience with the microphones and hearing the sound of her own voice which can be traumatic. I remember the first time I heard my own voice out of a microphone I think I was 13-14 and I quit singing in front of people for 2-3 years. I also wondered how long my "friends" had been laughing at me behind my back. I then knew why they egged me on to sing I thought they were being nice and liked hearing me sing. That was a wake up call about who you could trust. I already had major trust issues because of my parents who took great delight in making me feel as small on the inside as I was on the outside. Try living with a major inferiority complex and be 5'3" and 113lbs. when you graduate from high school with no discernible talent for anything. When you have been told you are worthless your whole life. Sorry I got swept away. I got nothing left to say actually, even if I felt anyone cared to hear it.

I was waiting for Ivar Choi Espedalen to comment here, but since he hasn't yet, I am copying his elsewhere comment, that details his translation between Angelina & Producer. This was before her participation in Norway's got talent, 2014 . Ivar has translated the dialogue from Norwegian to English : A: was it good? P: it vas very good , then this was the first time A: giggles P: i think this was just wonderful A: giggles P: there was some " mess" in the middle section of the song A: yes, because.. P: you "switched " some of the words . But what do you think of this? A: it was fine, but , it was one sentence that.... P: yes, there was some(...) - video stops-

I have said. 6 songs that the young miss did, she can never do ever again. They were powerful and unique. I who have nothing at 6 years old. The 4 on the Mods. Talent show. Then at9 she did I put a spell on you. Those 4 made her. Due to age and vocal developement. She will never do that again. So they will go down in my eyes as The mark of greater.

I put a spell on you - is a wonderful homage to ' screaming Jay Hawkins' who had a very hard time getting the respect he deserved. He played the crazy fool and used a 'gimmick' 'schtick' to get attention in the msic world. :/ 2nd only to the story of how she does not wear shoes when performing, I find her Black & White video of "I put a spell on you ' a touching tribute to a man who would have loved her arrangement of his song. Watch her holding a candle for him.

She is completely and totally amazing. I have been following her since 2014 and she never fails to surprise and delight me. Never. Please allow yourself to fly forward in time and see her latest covers. The very latest is Adele's "Easy On Me" (couple of weeks ago).. right before that she did two most unusual covers in monochromatic studios .. Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and the Beatles' "Yesterday" .. both charming and quite brilliant. Her latest original (she has seven of them, I believe) is "7th Heaven" a Jazzy and charming song of hope .. before that was "Million Miles" a song she wrote for her dear grandfather who she loved so very much and who died. A very emotional piece that she dedicated (mid COVID) to "anyone who has lost a loved one." On both those originals I recommend the studio versions .. although there is a brilliant version of Million Miles done in delightful artwork painted by her Grandmother Mery .. a great artist herself who always has been Angelina's muse. That video is worth watching. Many people will recommend songs to watch. You will have to follow your heart because there are about 150 videos of covers and originals and some interviews on KZbin of Angelina. She is a heavenly gift indeed. She is 15 years old now and will turn 16 on January 20, 2022. Two others I recommend highly: "In Still Holding Out For You" and "It's a Man's World" .. (look for the black and white one sung in an outdoor stage and she singing with the Oslo Military Band.) Prepare to be blown away. Everyone will recommend "I Put a Spell on You", which she recorded at 9 years old and is a tribute to Screaming Jay Hawkins' version of the song (I believe he was the original writer of the song that has been sung by many many artists .. none as brilliant as Angelina at the age of 9.) It must be seen also. **Prepare yourself to become an addict. She is unlike anyone I've ever heard. I have to hear her at least a couple of times a day. Seriously .. she's that good. Her family protects her carefully and have slowed her speed into the music industry full- on in order that she finish school. Mind you .. this is a young lady that since the age of 18 months (no joke .. there's a video) has been singing. But not only singing .. seriously studying all her favorite singers and never did a day go by where she didn't put hours (literally) of work figuring out how to sound like Billie Holiday, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Amy Wineheart etc.. and lately Adele. I say this because people want to say she was born this way .. I believe she was called by the music full-on and she has sang hours and hours and hours to develop what she now had n which mammy call the most amazing voice of their lifetime She is considered a musical savant. All her covers are arranged by her and musicians who work with her adore her and call her "the boss" .. nobody can deny her extraordinary gift and are in awe of her. She is kind and generous and truly truly a special young lady. Welcome to Angelina's Rabbit Hole. It's a fabulous journey. I very much look forward to seeing more Reactions from you .. you are a delight and very expressive. Glad to meet you!
