Thank you Marie-Anne for making this technique easy and fun. I normally wear my shirts untucked because I feel that a full tuck looks awkward with my short torso and big bottom, and also because I prefer a more relaxed look. However some shirts just don't look that good untucked! The french tuck looks like the perfect compromise. I love the way it creates a more flattering soft line instead of a straight line across the hips. It looks like it is probably flattering for all types of figures!

I like to tuck a shirt or tee shirt in right at the outer side of my waist because it indicates my legs are longer (I’m only just over 5 ft 3) but still partly conceals my tummy (of which there is more than I would like).

I’m really happy to have found this video. I was totally confused by the whole French tuck look, couldn’t figure out how to do it at all without looking like a small boy who had been to the loo and was in a hurry to go back out to play! I’m afraid that’s still what comes to mind first, particularly the shirt with one corner out and one tucked in, but I’ve discovered that I really like it with some of my thinner jumpers and proper high waisted trousers. You’ve given me some ideas here, I’ll keep experimenting! 😊

I’ve been doing this for years and never knew what it was called! It just kind of developed naturally for me. I like to wear more fitted jeans with looser shirts and sweaters, so everything isn’t tight on my body. People in the US think my shirt is coming untucked and I say, “Oh no! That’s deliberate!” Love to pair it with a statement belt and a pair of ballet flats or loafers.

Good advice for the not really French, French Tuck. 😉 I either tuck in my tops fully and wear a belt, or French tuck on the right side. As a petite, with long torso, and short legs, this seems to give better proportion to my frame.
