The best album from a SoCal punk band that had the "embarrassing hard rock and hairspray" album. Great players and, the addition of the legendary Jay Lansford on guitar (his early bands and, pioneering production on early Posh Boy releases defined a sound) was a great idea

This album was dreadful compared to their earlier material. More Bon Jovi than the DK's.

Caught em live playing this set in '85 opening for X - totally wild, drunken fun, like the Replacements without the Westerberg ego

Channel 3 are one of my favorite bands from the day. They are from Cerritos and I'm from Lakewood, neighboring cities, so I saw them a lot. I think their change from punk to hard rock was great. The change was into something like The Replacements or The Del-Lords. I would love to see them again, but I live in Thailand now.

yeah they're STILL great. One of my old bands opened for them in like 2011 and they were STILL fantastic!

Going to be seeing CH3 tomorrow, 03/10/2024, at The Sardine in San Pedro. My primary reason for going is to see NYC band Incendiary Device but CH3 is there too. Should be fun!

funny thing is when my old band opened for em (2011?) here in Winnipeg I was calling out all these tunes and THEY DID play "Last time I Drank" but Kim was saying that "Everyone hated this record..." Fucking this is definitely on my all time favorites for sure.

This kicks ass. I remember the garbage that came out in 85. Mainly MTV at that time. Unfortunately, I didn't happen upon this until way later.

I like their rock albums better than their punk albums. They were an awesome rock band. I wish these albums were more available.

I get the feeling that these guys were always sagging this record to save face with their fan base, who like the harder edge sound of the earlier releases. The production value was better the song writing was better and the end product was much cleaner in the end. One time I saw them live and they called "just hanging around" the Billy Joel song. Like they were ashamed of it. It was just weird, killed it live though. Good band but they never got what they deserved on a national level. They did go through more drummers than Spinal Tap.

By listening to this for the first time, i understand why the guys at MRR hated it back then. It's basically an Hard Rock'n'Roll album. Good stuff, but i'm hard pressed to call this "Punk"...

Yeah, I never heard it until now either. I don't think I read any reviews of it or anything back then, I guess I might have heard a couple friends say it sucked or whatever. All I do remember is seeing it on record store racks and thinking "What in the fuck happened???" I don't hate it, but my 16 year old self certainly would have.

It's not hardcore punk, indeed. But It actually sounds like late 70's and 80's english punk.

i bought this when it came out, and was highly disappointed teenager. listening now for the first time in over 30 years, it's not that bad, a sort of replacements/clash hybrid that's a logical progression from the posh boy era. not bad... hindsight is 20/20.

The mid 80's were a bad time for classic US punk...Check TSOL and 7 Seconds and more. They wanted shitty echo drums and lame solos and to sell out or something.

Yeah this record is quite a piece. I had Fear of Life back in the day and honestly even that wasn't that great. Especially compared to other greats of that era. Really never more than a second string band, but somehow in LA even the worst bands seem to live forever
