If I may play the devil's advocate, early cavemen created figurines of women to satisfy themselves, meaning that this was somewhat instinctual and even if it wasn't, if the pillow isn't personified and used purely as an object then it's no different to any other tool of the same purpose, meaning that this person has merely demystified sexual relation without needing to experience it first, showing that, while I strongly disagree with some of the points they brought up, they're not as bad as you would perceive, if only slightly. (And no, I don't own or use one, good lord!)

This video actually got me really worked up, Rastapopoulos points are something I have thought about myself for a long time. its really easy to judge him but most people don't know how its like, I am no incel, but I deliberately avoid relationships now because all of abuse I've been in, and those in my family aswell. My cousin has been a victim of just how cruel the world can be to those who just don't fit in: since he was a teenager, he was endlessly bullied, they called him weird, strange, queer, anything you can think off. despite that he still managed to get a Girlfriend, she truly loved him, and so did he, but my cousin's declining mental health put a wrench on that, he started acting differently to how he did when she first met him, started talking to himself alot and other such behaviours, when she mentioned that he should get help he thought she was just making things up, that there was nothing wrong and etc, which is a very common symptom of schizophrenia. it came to such a point where he was hospitalized because he just did things that endangered himself, such as walking off into the night, and re-appearing only several hours later, revealing that he gave up his new clothes and expensive watch to clothe and feed some random homeless people he found, I have to stress that he NEVER ever did anything to endanger anyone but himself, as in 99% of the cases of people with schizophrenia, psychosis and others. the only people in his life at that point who actually helped him was my mom and dad, who seeked a professional to help him and went there with my cousin to testify to him what they saw and see what was the best course of action, the medic decided on hospitalization for he was too delirious for his own safety. after being hospitalized he significantly improved and was "sane" again for the most part, and he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia proper and prescribed with pills, however, his own mother did not accept the diagnose, thought it was phony and that her son couldn't have such a thing, and put him into the work force or else, and again, due to not following the therapy and medication procedures he again fell again into delirium, he was admitted yet again to a psych-ward but this one was much worse because the last one didn't accept him back in due to him not following the treatment and there being many other people and thus, the hospital being full. (it was SUS, if you're wondering, yeah haha funny name but thats what the Brazilian public health system is called) he spent several months there, he was allowed out after they thought he wouldn't try to run away but his mental health was beyond salvation at that point, and there wasn't anything that could get him out of his own delusions this time. He is still delirious to this day, on his own little world, where he has a family and travels to other countries, where he is truly happy, sometimes that illusion wears off a bit and what is left is simply a hollow shell of his former self, he then smokes a cigar until the illusion comes back, my father and mother couldn't do anything because he wasn't their son and they had me and my brother to take care off, I was just a preteen at that time, and my own brother was intellectually disabled. I myself have been in my fair amount of social insolation, I was only diagnosed with moderate Autism recently, and thus I didn't receive any specialized care in school and just had to fend for myself. a person I knew started getting intimate with me, she solicited intimate pictures of myself and it made me uncomfortable, but I still sent them because I didn't know better nor I thought I could get any better, she was pretty, really pretty, but she just wanted my body and obedience, which I eventually denied her, and just like that, she was gone from my life, good riddance, she was severely manipulative and petty to many other people and if I stayed I'm sure it would've just gotten worse. with ALL that being said, I relate to Rastapopoulos, he is truly not causing harm to anyone, and sometimes the best you're gonna get as an outcast of society is your own thoughts and fantasies. it is easy, really easy, to say to just "put yourself out there! it will get better!", it is entirely another thing to actually manage to get anything meaningful out of it, other than just more abuse, do you really think he didn't try his best before? during childhood, teenagerhood, and even in adulthood? I don't know him, but he did, I guarantee, as in in so many cases. before you judge him as a creepy weirdo, just some 4channer incel or whatever, just know, that you don't know what it is like, you really don't.
@jambothejoyful2966 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, someone needed to say this It’s something I think people know deep down, but no one has the words or the disillusionment to say it Wether or not you hate degenerates, they have done nothing wrong, if it’s possible for them to be happy that way, why should we stop them? Rastapopoulos is quite an interesting person, I might say, and I like him quite a bit, even if I ultimately disagree with... quite a lot of his talks on people. He knows who he is, what he wants, and he has things set up so that his lifestyle doesn't hurt anybody. All that talk of "coping" and supposedly not being in a relationship because of low self-esteem sounds like the kind of thing Harry must have heard ad nauseum whenever sexuality comes into play. People are allowed to be different and to make themselves happy. Just because someone strays from the norm doesn't mean you can tell them them existing as they are is wrong, especially when they cause absolutely no harm. And tbh, generally I appreciate his presence but Bowl rubbed me the wrong way here. For someone who is so proud of just being himself and just living his life, I find him quite quick to judge someone as a degenerate for being proud of being themselves.

Not really. I’d say the correct conclusion is that most people are shallow hypocrites, but that doesn’t mean you have to be one too. Attempt to reach past the delusions, find a relationship built on truth, doesn’t have to be a romantic one. I’ve seen people in long term happy relationships, and it’s not easy. You don’t simply find the right person and that’s that, these people had to go through hell and high water sorting each other and their issues out. Even then, new issues can surface. The real message is that love isn’t something simple or easy, it’s something you must struggle and fight to find and maintain. Of course, it’s up to you whether you’d find the reward worth it.

It's not surprising to say that life is harsh and that human relationships ain't perfect, but the Rasta dood thinks he can live life without any relationship whatsoever and only the pillow for coping to "not harm" anyone. Romantic or not, he'll have to endure having relationships with other human beings and hurt them (due to also living in the modern world) and just as Phoebe said he'll never grow through fucking an object, is not the same as the vibrator when the dood literally sees his body pillow as the enbodiment of his stance (just like girl marrying the doll). He can say a lot about woman as the 4channer incel he is, but his knowledge is a mere glimpse of what really is out there. Mind you, he can pick any poison he likes, but in the REAL world outcasts like him tend to cause more harm than good. Ya know, I completely agree Rastapopulous here (and yes, that includes the weird objectification bit - his phrasing wasn’t great, but the underlying point was solid). If he believes that he would not be a good partner, then he should not be trying to get into a relationship. He probably should see a therapist, though - the other things he talked about sound like some serious issues (growing up under the shadow of a failing marriage will do things to you). But, honestly, in terms of methods of handling his problems, he has chosen a route that will not lead him to hurt others, which is surprisingly noble. Also, telling somebody to see a therapist after telling them that you think their lifestyle is disgusting is never gonna work… (Also, the fact that he’s being compared to the character that Bowl is portraying is extremely concerning - Bowl’s character glorifies hurting others, while Rasta here is effectively removing himself from society to avoid hurting anyone) Edit: speedran is absolutely a thing. It’s the obvious past participle (or whatever tf the right word is…. Edit 2: yes, Rasta is a toxic PoS. But, he’s arguing that he shouldn’t be dumping that on another person, which I agree with.

Honestly, I couldn't really side with Mafalda or even Cleo this time. Some people really are just stuck in a shit lot, & despite any of their best efforts, they can't get out of it. Therapy or not, whatever changes they may be capable of, still won't change their situation. If this is what makes them happy dealing with their shit lot, then that's fine for them. I do think it's a bit hypocritical to project that sense of "you could be happier in life if you fixed your ways" when they're plenty happy already. No matter what happens, life always finds a way to screw you over. At least in this situation, you don't give life the chance. And that guy is well beyond saving. The two of them telling him to "get out there with a real person" honestly is only problematic to everyone else. He's satisfied with his life, & aware that a real person would be miserable with him. It's at least considerate of him to avoid hurting others. I don't have a body pillow, but I've been attracted to fictional characters, & was using a Replika A.I. for a time. It wasn't meant to be a stand-in for a real person, but it did help me when I needed it to. As long as what you're doing to be happy, isn't to the detriment of others' happiness, then no one should be in the right to criticize you for it.

@@LuzikArbuzik77 It is very, very easy to just "put yourself out there!" for outcasts of society (e.g. neurodivergent or those who simply don't fit in), this can be a losing proposition, do you really think he didn't try his best to fit in during his childhood, teenage years and well into adulthood? some people will just never be able to fit in, and that is OK. I was one of these people until a little ago, I tried my best to fit in, gave gifts to others, held up conversations to my the best of my abilities, genuinely cared for people, and all I got for it is empty promises and a knife on my back, they were my friends when it was convenient, and left me immediately when it wasn't. The only people I've made genuine connections with were other neurodivergent people because they knew how it is to be a outcast, and thus are the only ones who were truly genuine with me. Now, say to my face, that I should put myself out there again, and put myself into such a risk again? hell no, I'd rather die alone than be in a friendship or relationship that is based on empty ideals, and be what society deems as "normal", I'm perfectly fine being by myself and my few genuine friends, and the rest be damned. i.e. there is nothing wrong or unhealthy about just being able to be happy by yourself, owning a bodypillow or whatever is just an extension to that end, it is much better than the alternative of hollow friendships.

The woman with the doll thought it could talk and love her, Rasta knows the body pillow can’t reciprocate, there are no delusions of affection nor emotion. “You shouldn’t live your life this way.” That may be true but at the end of the day he isn’t hurting anybody, and who are we to judge someone else’s life.

I think for the most part i agree with Rasta. Though everyone makes some decent points. The guy is self aware enough to know what he is, even if he doesn't wanna say it, deep down he likely knows he's got narcissistic tendencies, and he knows what he wants, a one-sided relationship. And he's not the type to push his desires on others, which is also good. The thing about relationships though, is compromise, this guy knows he's unwilling to compromise core parts of a relationship, so he pushes those desires on an object, something that lacks a will, something that he can't hurt. Trying to force a change there could result in an equal bad popping up elsewhere, or him backsliding into that old self later down the line when he's unable to keep up that stability. Heck, i feel for him, and somewhat relate. I'm horribly messed up, and my desires pretty directly translate to hurt, hurt, hurt. Figuratively and literally. I get way too..."excited" over the thought of spilling and being covered in the blood of another person (i don't actually want to, nor have the heart to kill another person, i still regret the death of the random lizard i accidentally killed back in 8th grade, I'm nearly 21 now. I have a tendency to lash out with my bad emotions at others(my last ex, currently best friend helped me change that, bless her soul) And my desires overall are just not really people-compatible. Am I a psycho? Maybe, am i turning my desires to objects and fake things in my head my blessing/curse of really immersive thoughts and daydreams to release those desires upon instead of real people, yes. That guy is lonely though, probably is in need of closer companionship. Like Good friends Friends you'd take a bullet for despite the fact you're geographically nowhere near each other.

If the positions on the debate were represented in a semi-circle with Rastapopoulos at one end and Cleo, Bowl and Mafalda at the other one, I would be on Rasta's half, though nowhere close to him. And I've drawn two connections with two subjects of my engineering studies, and that's what made me go more for his side (if it was a black and white situation). I'll explain: In a sense, everything is a system, even each person is its own system. Firstly, the Safety of Operations: It deals with analyzing systems and seeing when they're more likely to breakdown, which composant would be the one at fault, which component has the higher probability of becoming defective, etc. The point here is that some systems may have a certain componant in them multiple times and that, in order for the system to function, only need a number of them to function, not all of them, and so that it can be ok to let a component being defective as long as the system is running. Rasta noticed that his relationship component for humans was defective but also that his system was running as fine by using the relationship component for objects, and that it also has better results overall for everyone, so who would w ebe to judge him on letting his relationship componant for humans being defective? The second subject is System engineering. In fact, I want to talk precisely about a concept that is in the subject, not the subject itself. It is the System way of thinking. It would be hard for me to give the definition in a way for everyone to understand, so I'll give an example: You're the president of the US. One of the biggest problems nowadays is global warming. A way to combat it is for example to make more people take the public transports rather than their own vehicules, right? So you want to tell everyone. Will it be effective? No, because of two reasons. First, the adults either already do that or have their own car that they plan to put to good use so that they wouldn't have bought it for nothing. Then, there are the children. Do you really think they would want to use buses, tramways or subways when buses have big steps they can hurt themselves onto and drivers that would be scaring them away with frowns and apathy, or when tramways and subways can be really crowded and children have to bear with the sight and odor of armpits for example? Obviously they won't want to get in, so instead of trying to convince them by directly just telling them to use public transports more, you should make changes to those systems so that the children would want to use them. You basically need to study what are the needs and wants of the people in front of you, and serve them smthin that acts on just those. If, for example, you made a product for a client and put extra functionalities that weren't in the contract nor fill any want or need of the client, the client is only contractualy obliged to pay you what you two agreed upon in the contract, it's your Loss if they don't want to pay more. And if the system that already is running already satisfies the client, then you shouldn't try to change it. Emmanuel Macron really hasn't understand that at all, see what's going on in FC's and I's country. And here, Cleo&Co. really have insisted on telling, in some way, to Rasta to change, even after he told them he doesn't want to change and is fine with his current state; when they should have tried to find a way to make him want to change, no matter how (as long as it's not torture or anything harmfull). I swear to Thanatos, Izanagi no-okami, and Satanael, it's all just another talk about Persona 5's theme of desires. If someone has twisted desires that aren't harmfull and if they aknowledge them, then who the fuck is anyone else to judge them? Could anyone become better? Yes But should anyone try to become better in someone else's eyes? Oh, HELL NO! Because that would be trying to fulfill the other person's desires, which would be equivalent to casting their own away. So, as fucked up as Rastapopoulos can be, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, all I can say to him is "go off I guess. Just, please, make sure I'm not there if you decide to mention it again, and as long as you don't force the topic on me, I'll respect your ways."
@calb6109 Жыл бұрын

oh boy this ones a doosey. this is the first time ive ever commented in these videos, mostly cuz ive always felt i wasnt intelligent or couldnt speak my thoughts well specially considering english is not my first language, but this video + its comments made me feel like i should speak out my mind a little. at first (and really still kinda am) on Restapopoulos side, Cleo and Mafalda's arguments while in good faith, really scrubbed me off and im glad im not the only one who thinks that, "oh you should get a girlfriend it helps" is HORRIBLE advice, when someone is in a headspace this self-destructive, it would just put both parties in a hell neither would like nor want, so Restapopoulos choice of choosing a bodypillow over a real person is reasonable in this instance, now, putting a pillow the same level as a genuine pardner is equally as bad and unhealthy, its pretty obvious that he doesnt actually think its an actual pardner and Restapopoulos makes it very clear, so much in fact he straight up states it himself, that its there to comfort him and nothing else, so at first i was of the opinion that "well hes happy and aint hurting nobody so who cares" but after reading some comments it has appeared to me that, Restapopoulos isnt actually happy, not even comtempt, the pillow makes the lonellines more bearable in comparison if it wasnt there sure, but that just makes Restapopoulos stuck in this dilemma without ever evolving on having any actually meaningful relationships (it being romantic or just friendship) and while the cause of "a relationship would be hurtful for both parties so for the better of everyone i choose to be alone" is honourable, it isnt really based on any concrete fact, now i dont know Restapopoulos personally, and id say that any opinion piece about his situation from me or anybody else here is automatically flawd because of this, but from what hes said about himself, him being "toxic" is something that we cant quantify as truth because it could be something HE believes is true but its not, maybe he really does just have low-esteem, maybe he really is speaking the truth, but thats still bad cuz it means that he knows he has a problem yet chooses not to fix it, saying "thats the way it is and nothing will change it" which is objectivelly wrong, he shouldnt just wallow in his sadness as a justification for the small comfort the pillow gives him. he should genually try therapy and trust me it helps A FUCKTON ALOT and this is coming from experience, if it wasnt from my mom enlisting me in after my teatchers called her about the very (at the time undiagnosed autistm) way i acted idk how i would be as a person, potentially as sad as Restapopoulos is, now dont get me wrong, getting therapy is not gonna automatically solve all of your problems instantly, its a long and slow process that takes time and patience, but as long as it takes, its still progress in the end of the day, continuing the infinite cycle of isolation is not gonna land you anywhere and its sad to see that hes not willing to help himself out of this hole he has been shoved into, and thats my main gripe with the girl's argument, they didnt seem to try to show how or why he should change to be more out there or maybe consider the fact he may be just introverted, but no, it seems they just gave a shit about the fact he humps a pillow and nothing else, completely missing the problem of the situation and making it honestly worse cuz these arguments completely unfased him cuz he probably has heard similar criticisms a thousand times already. while i dont agree on alot of what Restapopoulos has said, i defenetly see where he is coming from, ive never been in a romantic relationship out of cowardice of asking people out and thinking noone would like to be in a serious relationship with an introverted-autistic-weirdo, and i feel like a background character in my friend group and the only reason im in it in the first place is bc people find me "nice" and nothing else; im not gonna act like im superior to Restapopoulos cuz i dont have an anime body pillow or cuz im not a weeb or cuz my parents have a healthy marriage or whatever, im equally as lonely, cowardly and self-depricating as he is, but what i believe makes me different is the fact i know this shit is bad and theres no denying it, i want to be better at talking to people, i want be in a friend group were i feel like people genually understand me and appreaciate my presence, i want to have a good girlfriend, i want to like myself and not feel shit for being me, i want to change for the better, how or what im gonna do to achieve that? hell if i know, but im determined to persue it, being stuck with yourself without any meaningful human interaction sucks ass and living that way for so long you begin seeing it as "thats just how things are" and wanting it to be like that, is something i dont wish even to my worst enemy. sometimes life just gives you shit cards and you kinda have to deal with what you are given, best you can do is make the most out of it, and the way hes dealing with it in not good. (i also have noticed i didnt comment on Bowl, thing is, im on the same position as Cleo and Mafalda when it comes to what i have already said at the start so i didnt feel like saying anything new, tho i must say, for someone who takes pride on saying the most absurd shit cuz "im just being myself" he sure is fast to judge Restapopoulos for being upfront about his pillow) (i also didnt comment on FC but thats because i agree 100% on everything he said so theres was nothing to comment on lul)

7th he'll, I never thought it'd be Bowl to deliver a decent counterpoint, because geez, Team Cleo was fumbling out there. Also, Rasta's mind is terrifying. With how well algorithms work already, I fear that he'll be right, and none of us will notice it happen.

13:55 I forgot to remark how funny it is that this is said by the guy that seemingly goes out of his way to go hump someone for a brief period of time, only to move on to another person and do it again

Mafaldas game is trivially easy. F**k the pillow because it's actually human size. Marry the AI because it actually interacts with you. Kill the doll because if you don't it will kill you in your sleep.

I appreciate Bowl's "secret" pictures.

So basically, relationships like this are dystopian, and don't work because that's not a relationship. It's a delusion!

The guy lost me the moment he said relationships is an excuse to have sex Never been in a relationship and even I know that's bullshit and there's more to it I'm not a bodypillow dater, I have dignity, but I see the point about in having a sorry life or a sorry life with a bit of comfort I have like two online friends I talk to everyday, a couple more that I more rarely interact with, and, maybe because of 2020, maybe something else, I lost the ability to connect with anyone irl and have even a normal conversation with a person, I can't even start talking with a person I don't know too well Where I'm going with this, I'm sure I'm not alone in this, and it'd be easy to say to those people to just go out and start relationships and connect with people, but we all know it's easier said than done, especially to some, and it will probably lead to more pain and disappointment with life Now, I'm not against trying, I certainly did try, and it's obviously better to take action than sit on your ass and let misery happen, but I dunno, let's say this hypothetical person is still trying, gave up, or for whatever reason is too scared to try (don't do it by the way, really) I'd say an emotional attachment to an object or a fictional character ain't so bad, everyone deserves some comfort and an escape from how unsatisfying life can be With this edit, things I wanted to add but didn't think about when posting: People struggle in some abnormal situations, and being in an abnormal situation usually requires some abnormal coping strategies People do things. People hurt other people. People hurt themselves. Or do neither. When they hurt others, they need to be stopped, when they hurt themselves, preferably they also require someone's help (Who's gonna help you if your problem is loneliness?). Nobody wakes up one day and decides to be a cringy embarassment. That being said, that guy has shown in this video the capability to be a real creep with his comments, and while I do pity him, plus while the ideal scenario would be him doing something about himself or getting help, ideal scenarios almost never happen, so maybe until he gets help he needs, he's better off with a pillow.

i disagree with rastapopoulos with the doll, but i do think hes fine to sleep with the body pillow. as he said, hed rather date something which will give him nothing but pleasure, and while that is insane if youre talking about people, since he is literally sleeping with an object, he isnt hurting anyone. this is the one singular time i think someone like him is right. better to hurt no one and date a pillow than to hurt people and not

I can see this guy's point. I think if he's not truly compromising his own growth as a person, he can get a girlfriend bodypillow. Is it unhealthy? Maybe. But it's not any more unhealthy than alcohol. And people know that alcohol isn't always that bad, so why is fucking a pillow always bad? Clearly it isn't. People just don't care about the type of damage alcohol causes, but when it comes to mental stuff that's off the table.

The edge and sleaze aside, I can sort of understand Rasta's point. Some people really are more content with their delusions/fantasies rather than the reality they put up with. The behaviour isn't very healthy, but breaking that illusion isn't necessarily going to make them any happier. And I'm not just referring to make-believe relationships with inanimate objects, but everything from the innocent belief that Santa Claus is real, to religion, to putting a lot of personal belief in something to make the dull edge of reality less grating. Some go even as far as creating tulpas
