Thanks! Yes I shop for very practical things, also at Emmaüs: I get ramekins to make desserts for guests, I recently found incredible little plates like the ones people pay 8 euros a piece for these days as they're back in style and I got a set of 10 for 5 euros. I use them all the time to serve dessert to guests. I love being able to find practical things there instead of always having to buy everything new when there is already so much stuff that could be reused. I think this brocante / recyclerie (the fact that they call themselves a recyclerie means a lot!) really shares that same spirit!

The yellow and green pottery, the cast iron swing frame, the portrait in the ornate frame hanging to the left of the swing, the galvanized essential oil pail, the brown plate with the green center, watering cans, the cast iron piece behind the car door, most of the transferware plates (hard to choose). That’s in the first few minutes! Those amber glass apothecary jars were splendid too. I’m visiting in May…. How to get it all home! 😃😃

I’m one of those that LOVE your brocante tours! I guess you’ll buy some of those red & white pieces and that nice river scene art work which I loved too! My decor style is more colorful than yours though the beauty of neutrals and white decor is so lovely too. I collect (here in California) Green depression glass (strictly American); Old bottles; Metal graniteware; Old wooden boxes and spoons; Chintzware (English) & hand painted desert plates, each one different; Old hardware; Vintage linens; Vintage pitchers solid colors; Mismatched wine glasses, hand cut crystal or etched glass; Antique furniture; Yes I like practical and useful things, not items for display purposes only. We do entertain regularly… I would have bought that old red pitcher you touched, and if shipping prices were no object, one of those fabulous old mirrors! The old pot with the pansy’s would have tempted me too…

Your videos of brocanting are my fave. I can live vicariously through you and imagine buying items that you show. All of the blue and white and green and white transferware would have come home with me as well as a slew of paper ephemera and some linens and religious items. You could make a playlist just with the brocante shopping so those who are not interested can just hurry along, but I for one want to see them coming. You pan out slowly also so my head doesn't spin like it does on other people's brocante videos. Happy New Year from Alabama.

And fork. Your friend will love them. I loved the small pitcher you bought for your friend. I would fill it with daffodils in spring. I knew you would purchase the large glass water jug , in all your videos I’ve never seen so many grouped together like that and they’re condition was excellent. What a Great Brochante! I would have bought the Cobalt blue crock, 2 dark blue metal light shades, metal milk carton. I would have gone crazy with all the plates & pottery. I’m surprised you passed up some of the crocks but knew you would get some plates because I saw at least 3 patterns that you already have😊. I love the brochantes and would happily watch 2 hr episodes now and then. But don’t change your regular channel showing your home, other houses and your beautiful video photography. ❤❤❤

Again I love the brochantes and that you show the prices but can you give a quick explanation of what the prices are? I think a simple 3€ means 3 Euros but how are sets marked, or 6 plates for? , or price each? I just can’t figure it out. Thank you. ❤
@FrenchCountryLife Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s like that: a single item will have a price. But for example a single plate that is on top of a pile of 4 of the same plates will be prices “20€ les 4” which means 20€ for the 4 and it means they are sold as a set only and it’s the price for the set. Sometimes it will say “10 euros le lot” which means 10 euros for the lot. This will be used for sets of matching items. Hope this helps!

Let's see: I would have bought several of the stamps, a metal watering can, blue pitcher even though it has chip on it, several of the white plates with blue trim,also liked white pasta bowls with red flowers, and several of the large water pitchers. So much temptation. Oh, that cobalt blue crockery pot and one of the metal greenery cans (for flowers). Not sure how I would get it all to Western Oregon and shipping would probably cost more than items, but how fun. I thought prices were pretty reasonable overall. @FrenchCountryLife11 ай бұрын
Paris flea market is expensive! I don’t really like it there. You can check the website brocabrac.fr and search for vides greniers and brocantes in the departement that you’re in, which is the first two digits of the zip code (so 75 for Paris center, 21 for Dijon etc).

I am new to your channel. I stayed in Paris and visited my cousins in Marseilles and never had time to shop like this. How fun! Love thrift shopping here in the U.S. I'm learning things on your channel😅 I just figured out brocante is probably like "thrift" shopping we do here. The brocantes there definitely have more interesting things. Would it be possible to read the prices and tell us what some objects are used for, such as those tall coffee pot looking things are for? I don't know how to read those prices. I like vintage papers, books, stamps and such for journaling.Thank you so much for sharing. Dang, it's time to go visit my cousins again😂
@FrenchCountryLife Жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say a brocante is the same as a thrift store but I can see the similarities. A brocante however in my opinion is much more curated. The prices are in euros and it is either for the piece or for a set. It will say “20€ les 4” for example on a single plate on top of a stack of 4, it means you need to buy all four and the prices is 20€ for the set of four. Sometimes you find a number written a little smaller: this is the reference for the shop owner to keep their stock organized. Hope this helps!
