Edward french is quite simply one of the best voices I’ve ever heard narrate a book

The reader was great! Had a little Vincent Price in his voice.

Well! That certainly red-lined my creep-ometer! Especially the shrieking pig at the end. Nightmares!

Thanks for this - an intriguing tale, excellently presented. The ending is inconclusive, though. Is there more?
@FrenchEdward067 жыл бұрын
Hello Offshore. Nope. That's all he wrote. Inconclusive, but unsettling. That's why I tried to stick a fork in it and call it done with the horrific pig and ant eating sound effects.....

You're welcome, Doc. I only recently made the pleasurable discovery of Will Jenkins. He's on my "to do" list for recording more of his work in the future.

Whilst not necessarily your usual fare, a good follow up to this would be Leiningen Versus the Ants. I read that, I think, in one of Pan books classic horror stories collection and it would fit your style well.

Well calculated to leave you in SUSPENSE~ This was the famous rag line from the old radio show, Suspense :)

Valerie, you're either very old or an old-time radio aficionado. Maybe BOTH! Thanks for listening. E.E.F.

@@FrenchEdward06 I'm 49, and very old ;) I love radio shows. They're how I found your site :) I've listened to several of your posts over the last three days and I'm hooked. I've shared your site with some of my radio show friends and others that like being read to. You're a fantastic narrator.

@@Nrvsmum73 Thanks for those kind words, Valerie. It you are "very old," then I must be ancient at 69. I appreciate you sharing the Fiction Fantastique channel with friends and others. As you have surmised, I too love "old time" radio's Golden Age. Be safe and well. E.E.F.

I remember reading this a long time ago. I remember that Jose did tricks with an ant. But to my recollection, the story continued. The cattle were brought, but the Norteamericano had a plan. They butchered the cattle and powered the meat with poison. I wonder whether there is another version of the story. I wouldn't expect to find two stories with ants doing tricks. But of course I may be mixing up my stories...

Great story and telling. The title, tho, is unfortunate since it tends to minimize rather than strengthen the word "doomsday". Better title might've been Doomsday Rising, or something implying escalating danger.
@FrenchEdward067 жыл бұрын
Thanks. That's an interesting reaction to the title. Yeah, it's an odd title. I had a bit of a problem coming up with an image to connect with it too. The ants were the obvious choice, but I like the juxtaposition of the word doomsday next to a butterfly.
