Yeah, they both would need to start at square one... stance, arm movement, etc. And learning to catch... maybe they should use a tennis ball first. They are doing the classic "afraid of the ball" move, where they turn their face away at the last second. If you can't keep your eye on the ball all the way into the glove, it's just not gonna work too well. I remember starting at maybe 4 or 5 years old with a kid glove and a tennis ball. Lots of time spent playing catch in the backyard, starting maybe 20 feet apart, and slowly moving further away as I got better.

5:55 Here you are putting the correct foot forward, the foot opposite the throwing arm. Stand a little sideways of your target, like a pitcher does. Put weight on the back foot, sideways to target, step toward target with front foot while shifting weight to front foot, and throw. Your body will naturally turn at the torso while you throw.

Way to go Marie!!! A pointer, When you are catching a high ball, You use both hands. Have your ungloved hand close to the glove, when you can. When the ball goes into your glove, you real quick, cover the front of the glove with your other hand, so it does not come out, and you are now ready to grab the ball and throw it back. To loosen your glove up a bit, when you not using, put a ball into the pocket of the glove and tie the glove around it. You can also use some leather oil, which would also make it more soft. When a ball hits into it, the ball will help close it together. If you are a lefty, you need to get a glove for you right hand, so your strong hand and arm, can throw it back. You are doing great for your first time. Glad you have a friend to play catch with.

So cool!! I love how you two are trying this now, and just having fun with it. Quick tip: Starting out in a close distance to start throwing, and then eventually longer always helps. Also, watch that ball all the way to squeeze it into the glove after it is in. Try to catch the ball in the pocket (Top center/upper part of glove.) You may need to cover the glove with your bare hand, after the glove is closed. This is to keep it secure, then you'll get used to catching it with the glove hand. Keep the channel going; love it!

Okay, this is your coach speaking. When you are throwing the ball, whichever hand you are using, the opposite leg should be the most forward one, as well as that shoulder. Then, as your arm goes forward with the ball, the shoulder with the ball rotates to be the one most forward, followed by the leg, on the side of your throwing arm. This is most easily seen if you watch the motion of a pitcher. It's fundamental for all players. But, watching a pitcher, and how they repeat the same motion, over and over again, is the easiest way to see this. You looked like you were having fun. Which is what matters most.
@tootalazaaz3 жыл бұрын

Switch pitchers, pitchers who can throw with both the right and left hands, are highly sought after in baseball.
@michaelcrummy83973 жыл бұрын
And very rare.
@hkpew3 жыл бұрын
Highly sought after? By whom? The truth is, switch pitchers are so rare that I think most coaches/clubs don't really know what to do with them. And probably with good reason - as several people have already pointed out in the comments, the baseball throwing motion is not really a natural thing for most people. Pitching, as the ultimate form of the baseball throw, requires a tremendous amount of practice to get good at. Even if you have the natural ability to throw well with either hand you are probably better off choosing one and sticking with it. I know that there are some minor league pitchers that throw either way, and I think one of them may even have gotten a look in the majors recently, but if it were a highly sought after skill I'd expect to see more (any?) of them in the majors. Switch hitters are a lot more common, and that leads to a problem when a switch pitcher faces a switch hitter. This came up a few years ago in the minor leagues, when one of the few switch pitchers there came up against a switch hitter. The hitter came up to the plate on one side (I don't remember which, for the purpose of telling the story let's say he was batting lefty) so the pitcher switched his glove over to pitch lefty. So then the batter stepped out of the box and moved over to the right side of the plate. Of course, the pitcher then switched hands again. This went on for quite a while, until finally the umpire ruled that the pitcher had to pick a hand to use and stick with it (giving the batter the chance to make the final choice). I don't know if that's an official rule now, but if it is that reduces the value of switch pitching even more.

Start closer together. You’ll build strength and accuracy as you learn. Good on ya for going out there and giving it a shot and sharing with the rest of us. Also. You did great for a lefty and a righty glove
@ephennell4ever3 жыл бұрын
Usually, when first starting out, it's easiest to learn throwing and catching from maybe 10-12 meters apart; this helps develope control over the ball - after you can control it, you get farther apart and work on strength. Your boyfriend seems to have a natural 'feel' for handling the ball; has he watched some baseball games? He should have his own glove. For easy practice at home, sit on the floor, throw the ball up close to the ceiling and practice catching it in the glove. Also, you and your boyfriend can sit on the floor, maybe about 3 meters apart and do easy throws back and forth to each other. Do that every other day, and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll improve! *Have fun!*

Le baseball ne sera jamais aussi populaire en Europe que le football, mais j’espère que plus des gens là bas pourront voir un peu de notre sport national. Your very fine film looked like it could have been shot in Central Park, New York City, or Grant Park in Chicago. Just please, don’t get too attached to the Washington Nationals. To throw the baseball correctly i'd suggest to watch both baseball & softball pitchers. Plus try to make a target. If you do think of Robin Hood & try to hit the bullseye. Now with a football (American) I'd say find an old tire and a long piece of rope. from that point make a tire swing. Now you have your target to have you throw the Football through the tire.

Please excuse my constant smile as I watch you learn. The ability to throw with either hand is an advantage, but I think that you would be more comfortable if you had a mitt for your right hand. Many of my friends and family are "lefties," or "southpaws." I, like you, am ambidextrous. You will probably find that you have the ability to hit the ball from either side of the plate. I started coaching in 1970 with a team that my sister played on. Women's sports had issues finding coaches and sponsors then. A fathers was more likely to coach a son than inspire a daughter. I coached that team for five years before my career precluded doing so, but coaching had become permanent part of my life. I have coached for about 30 of the last 51 years. I still love this game.

And don't be fooled by the name, a "softball" is still plenty hard (when you catch it barehanded or, God forbid, it hits your head or body): it's just that it's a little bigger (more surface area to spread the impact) and indeed a little softer than a baseball.

Hey, Frenchie, u guys should start out about 5-8 meters apart and throw the ball to each other. You don't have to throw so hard at that distance and your arm becomes more and more use to the throwing motion. Give it try, i bet it will work for you. If u were to "play pass" with one another each day, you would stand 5-8 meters apart each day for a month or two until your body is used to throwing. Then u increase the distance to whatever is comfortable, 12-15 meters. Each of you should definitely use a baseball glove.

if your a lefty or in baseball terms a southpaw, throwing left handed is the way to go, though you need a different glove that fits your right hand.

Use two hands when catching a fly ball. Place the non gloved hand just outside the glove and use it to help trap the ball in the glove. I'm sure you can find a video to help. 😎

You did really well. Some teams here may have to scout Remy. Practice the motion of throwing at home. No ball of course. Just make it as fluid as you can. And don't overdo any of it. If you start 'batting' the ball around in your next video I would suggest you hit only the softball. A baseball can hurt. Catching bare handed, let your hand go with the ball before you begin to stop it. It won't hurt as much.
