This device looks pretty neat. I would be interested in knowing what the crosstalk is between each output and phase noise. Phase noise using the internal and phase noise added to an external reference.

I've got a long way to go to even halfway understand this, but that's why I watch your channel. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I at least understand this a lot better than before. Excellent job explaining it.

Excellent video as always! Just one question, in the layout the regulator is near the oscillator, in case the heat generated by the ic is high that could interfere with the stability of the oscillator despite is thermally compensated?

Hi man, I think it would no disturb the oscillator. But it is a good idea to move a little far in a hardware review

Hi there, the oscillator regulates itself to a stable temperature (around 60°C if I remember right) so it would in theory even compensate for the external heat input if possible. In this case the regulator isn't getting all that hot and there are cutouts in the PCB to further isolate the OCXO thermally. But after all you are definately right, it is a good idea to keep all heatsources as far away from the OCXO as possible.

Hello Gregory. i'm also interested in design GPSDO with the use of SkyWorks Si5351.

GPS and rubidium are well traveled paths. But how about NTP disciplined clock? No need for the sky access, or for a power-hungry rubidium module. Just a low power Linux PC (like raspberry), OCXO board and an Ethernet cable. Yes, NTP's jitter is in milliseconds, but it only affects the lock time - for an always-on device it is not a big deal. Good OCXOs (probably) are stable enough to facilitate long synchronization periods. That will be cheap and cheerful.

Nice unit! The pcb electronics and enclosure is really nice. Would be great if it was USB powered (maybe even as a separate USB port), as the db9 for power/io is a little clunky. Would love to know more about phase offset configuration, mainly out of interest than need

I think functionality wise, it works far better if all signals are on one side of the device, likely the backside.

Nice video, Gregory! I think I know, who might have built and sent you this thing. ;) Let me address a few things. (13.11.23 right no so if I didn't respond to some of your suggestions, I might not have seen it yet) @ Gregory First of all you were basically spot on with everything you said. The initial phase difference is due to the SI5351 having multiple PLLs and depending on which one is used where, it has some random phase offset. The IC offers a "real" clock fanout mode where the same PLL is used to supply multiple outputs with manual phasing control. Actually an IQ mode is something I have on my feature list that I want to implement. The "firmware" I wrote for the unit is more of a nice proof of concept program, I'm not a software guy so I'm not very good at it. Rewriting the current firmware (which is at 1.7 right now, btw.) is another big point on my list. @bansci & @ivolol Yeah I agree with the ports being on one side as well as the USB supply. My initial use case for the thing is mainly SDR and ham radio stuff (therefore also the 12V supply) where it is used as "set and forget" so the configuration isn't a big issue. Also the DSUB connector is due to it being able to get screwed in. For instrumentation use I think it would be petty nice to have the ESP host a webserver with a GUI to control it ... which is propably way above my programming skills.
