Same, and if you looked at the older games, what I knew as AC's became Lynx's in AC4 & FA, but AC's were then calledn Normals or Regulars. So now in ACV and ACVD we pilot these big bulky things and not the sleek Armored Cores we used to have before. Like in AC, or AC2, SL, NineBall, ACTLR, or ACN, sorry if I missed an older tittle, still trying to play them all for PS and PS2.

the reason y the mechs are less advanced in v and verdict day is because orca won the war and destroyed all the artaria facilities including cranium but they couldnt reach space because the league destroyed the heisenberg batteries that they were going to use to destroy the assault cells that blocked there path

V is confirmed as an ACFA sequel with the plot points shown in VD. So 6 could very well be an ACFA based game (hopefully.) Though they may do yet another reboot which tbh would be absolutely foolish.

I'm suprised the arguement of which is better, ACFA or Verdict day is still going on. Personally I hate how ACV and Verdict day play due to the sheer fact I'm used to being able to boost with hopping off a building. ACV and Verdict day killed light weight ACs the same way AC4 and ACFA killed heavy weights, by making the alternatives more viable with how the game plays. Think what you might, both require some degree of skill. In terms of AC4 and ACFA it's more personal skill while ACV and Verdict day require more team based skill otherwise you'll just get cluster fucked by 4 guys with battle rifles. Only things I can actively praise ACV and Verdict day on are A. the online system, It's fucking fantastic and B. the soundtrack. Armored Core never disappoints when it comes to soundtracks.

lavulman It is possible to pilot a lightweight and effectively get high rankings on missions on V and Verdict Day. The thing is that on the 5th gen, lights tend to work better as CQC units. personally, 5th gen is my favourite because of its team focus, but I still love the rest of the series to death. I guess I'm just more into team games :P

Claire Ahri .Farron You are dead on about 4 and 5 killing off those respective classes. What I really did not like about 4 and 4a however, was basically making Quads and Tanks obsolete. The whole point of those two classes was the ability to use the powerful back weapons without having to take a stance. Now that bipedals and reverse legs can use them, the clear advantage of the quads and tanks disappeared, and their defenses were barely above that of the mid/heavy weight legs. You can make them awesome from skill alone, but their niche that actually made them unique was shattered. And if you went up against someone of equal skill, the bipedal was sure to win because of his/her superior air mobility. Why slow myself down when a lightweight with the same weaponry can bust through my tanks defenses with 50% more maneuverability? I liked V and VD for the re-balance, but many of the newer players from 4a did not appreciate the overall slow down. I welcomed this change because it brought back the diversity in builds. Tanks can use the powerhouses without being stationary again, while having defenses in all three areas to make more than 60% of the weapons in game useless against them. This made tanks a real threat again. Quads had a far superior stance for the heavy snipers and cannons, making them the sniper class of the game. But another advantage was their superior stability, ability to hover far longer than bipedals and high CE defenses, making them the perfect counter to anyone abusing high powered battle rifles, and even fending off most of your average KE rifles. Lightweights had plenty of love because their speed can really throw the average FCS auto-aim off drastically. Most AC's cannot turn fast enough to keep up with a lightweight kiting them in close quarters. The learning curve for this game was much higher than the far easier 4th generation. I won't say 4 or 4a were terrible, but I will not say V and VD were abominations like some fans do. The formula of the PS2 era games were getting a bit stale, but the changes that both 4 and 5 brought were worthy of being successors in my opinion.

Claire Ahri .Farron I was a top ranked AC4 player using a tank. AC4 didn't kill off heavy weights. Not only was I easily able to climb the ladder pretty much whenever I felt like it, I found I was virtually never given a challenge by anyone but the best of the best in Armored Core 4, and this was using exclusively using GA or GA derived parts simply because they were American and I'm American. My AC, Monster, can be seen in the video where I play the level Marche Au Supplice. ACfA didn't either until Regs 1.4. I remained highly competitive with other top tier players during Regulations 1.3 with an overweight AC. The top players in ACVD use light weights. I think you might be mistaken in terms of what they killed. We just had to relearn the game. 4/fA removed dodging via skill, however, and V/VD removed dodging almost entirely in favor of evading enemy aim. Both 4/fA and V/VD were attempts to fix rabbit hopping, as far as I can tell. V/VD seems to have done such, but with the death of flight, they lost something important. Flight, at least limited flight, has always been an integral part of Armored Core play, and losing it, more than any other change, may be what killed the Armored Core feeling. While I enjoy V/VD, I don't feel like I'm playing Armored Core when I play them. You are right about them forcing team combat on us. Especially in VD. While I could find free matches and enjoyed them in V, I routinely hated team play in on V's map and still don't enjoy it in VD, especially with all the grinding you have to do just to be able to fight an enemy team or a big boss... but I could never find free battles on VD for whatever reason.

onigojira V and VD flight weren't too limited tbh, I am using a reverse jointed dual Pilebunker + Axe build and I float way too much (almost never touch the ground), and luckily win a free battle royale with it. I played 3 SL and LR and it felt much more flight restricted. Planning to get 4 soon. As for why V does not feel like others bc damage scaling felt different.
