Jessica’s fear of sleepovers is not unfounded. My next door neighbor was a secretary for a lawyer who practiced family law. He had many child abuse cases and 9 times out of 10 the first time the child was molested it was at a sleepover. It wasn’t just sleepovers with friends but sleepovers with relatives too. She doesn’t allow sleepovers at all and now we don’t either.

My parents didn't let me sleepover until they met and actually trusted the parent and always gave me the whole talk before about this topic. During my way through college, my sister was a lawyer in family law too and I was the babysitter of many of her workmates because they literally trusted no one else. I get it, many times at the beginning my sister would come crying, they see horrible stuff. I was actually sad to stop babysitting those children bc I cared for their well being and was afraid of other people who had them when they are this vulnerable

Because any slightly well brought up child knows you're not supposed to touch a stranger's car, especially at the age those boys were at (probably 16-18.) There's a reason why Jessica's children would never EVER do anything of the sort. I grew up in a neighbourhood with kids like those and my dad's car was scratched/keyed and even painted on. Indeed those kids' parents never tried to teach them anything about their behaviour - some even said their kids could do what they wanted because 'it's a free society.'
