This is my nightmare!! I’m going to Disneyland for the first time in 14 years next week. I have my rope drop all planned but if all of these attractions are closed it’ll mess up my whole day. At least I have LL. I want to thank you for all your informative videos. They have given me confidence to do this in my 70’s!!!
@CarolCap13118 күн бұрын
Good luck! I was there ,at76, last year with my daughter during Easter week. David’s videos were invaluable. We used his rope drop videos strategies from both the traditional front of park and another day entering from the monorail. Actually if you have lightning lane the closed rides can be a blessing in disguise. If you have a reservation and the ride is temporarily closed you get an individual redemption pass that, depending on the ride level, lets you get on various rides at the time of your choosing.plus as soon as you get it you can also book another lightning lane. For example on Easter Sunday we ended up with 6 individual redemption passes. Four of them were from the most popular popular rides which some refer to as “golden passes” because you can use them on just about any lightning lane ride in either park and even on non lightning lanes in dCA. In our case we got to ride runaway railroad and Indiana jones twice. Hope you have a wonderful time!

@FreshBakedDisney18 күн бұрын
lightning lane changes things quite a bit. you can either do the same thing I do here and save those LL's for a second ride, or you stack in the morning and rope drop non lightning lane rides like peter pan and the rest of fantasyland.
@zeroconsequences19 күн бұрын
I didn't even think about that haha. You DEFINITELY don't want to rope drop Tiana's.. that ride has more breakdowns than Indy. If a chronic single-rider though, you'd be better off trying to rope drop Indy or Peter Pan to save your day the most time. If Indy is down, you can still wrap around to Haunted Mansion or Big Thunder well enough.

IFreshBaked. David, when Walt had his Wednesday park management meetings, the first order of business was attraction down times. If an attraction was showing up on the list often or with the same problem he would direct management to observe it's operation for 3 weeks. He then would want a verble report after which a plan of action would be started to fix the attraction. A lot easier to do in Walts day Disneyland was closed on Monday's and Tuesday's. Bad show no matter how small had to be fixed as quickly as possible. As Walt said, "People spend a lot of money just to come here." Cheers, Chris Perry.

Tiana's broke down for me on my last trip literally right before boarding. We waited it out and it ended up getting on within 10 minutes. While we were waiting we chatted with the CM and I noted how many boats they had to clear before doing the test run. Turns out Tiana's (at least at the time I rode it) has 35 boats typically (I believe they said 36 is the max). So you might be able to use that and the fact that they hold 5-6 guests per boat to determine how long wait time will be. What I took away from that was that Tiana's is a pretty high capacity ride!

Wow. Was that the smoothest Matterhorn footage I’ve ever seen?? That camera?
@pinballrick603118 күн бұрын
Just wow! I remember a time when I could run around Disneyland without worrying about whether an attraction was open or not, whether it was broken down and without worrying about all those people that can afford Lightning Lane. Everything was always open and breakdowns were practically non existent. When free Fast Pass existed it was fairly available to every guest and if attractions were closed it was for a scheduled refurbishment. Today you have to plan around attractions intentionally opening late and/or closing early, attractions breaking down, how busy Lightning Lane is and that plan must constantly be subject to adjustment based on what attractions are available throughout the day. What was closed at various times in this video? Indiana Jones, Micky’s Runaway Railway, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, The Haunted Mansion, Rise of the Resistance, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Railway. This was just in the morning, are just the attractions _mentioned_ in the video and doesn’t account for multiple closures of the same attraction. Disney should be embarrassed and ashamed of this performance. I’m surprised they don’t close the Tree House because they can’t get the buckets on the waterwheel to work. The original waterwheel and buckets _never_ had an issue. I could build a version of that contraption in my own backyard that’s more reliable. Absolutely shameful. On the whole, about two and a half hours isn't bad, but you had to work much too hard to get your “rope drop” attractions in. (At what point is an attraction no longer considered "rope drop"?) You were so gleeful that your second attempt at The Haunted Mansion went so quickly, but if you account for walking to the attraction, the time waiting in the queue before being evicted, walking to and enjoying another attraction then walking back to The Haunted Mansion and waiting in the queue again, the time spent is considerably higher. It’s likely that the occasional visitor that shows up once every four or five years would be considerably frustrated on a day with so many closures, breakdowns and time wasted dealing with broken down attractions. “I paid $206 for this?!” Unfortunately for them, what they wouldn’t know is that numerous repeated closures is common at Disneyland these days. Thankfully, even though I’ve pretty much abandoned Disney, I have Fresh Baked to occasionally help me recall fond memories even though I rarely watch at all because of what Disney has devolved in to.

having so many major attractions down at the start of the day makes me think it's just another way disney is manipulating guests. they've already got your money, so keeping certain ride operators from starting at 8 a.m. (or whenever they clock in) saves them even more. it's no skin off their nose if you can't ride space mountain first thing in the morning. they know you'll just come back later, and maybe buy some food or merchandise in the meantime. less bang for your buck is their motto these day.
