I’m getting hate for this opinion | State of Disneyland 2025-02-05

Disney fixes the canons on Rise of the Resistance. I'm happy about that. But apparently I'm wrong lol. This is one of our subjects this week as we tour the entire park. But this story is SO MUCH MORE than just the canons on Rise.
We'll also be doing a lot of park science to help better understand how to observe stand by queues. This week we're paying close attention to Smugglers Run where we spot what looks like a bargain. We'll get in the queue to find out for sure.

Personally, I get David's sentiment about being happy with Disney fixing tech issues regardless of how long it takes. The issue for me is that upper management has made the overall experience at the park so unenjoyable (ie lightning lane, reservations, etc), that these bandaid fixes on rides come off as consolation prizes. The prolonged repairs are not due to a money issue, they're continuing to drain guests more and more, so I'm left to conclude that it's just procrastination or negligence at worst. And it's this overall mismanagement leaving such a bad taste in my mouth, that the small tech fixes aren't enough to rinse it away. That's my personal opinion. Am I glad they're fixed? Sure. But they come at the cost of my overall less than stellar experience. And I say all this as an entitled SoCal resident lol

I wonder if they control availability and crowds to manage wear and tear, as well. I manage a gym and I have to say that slow days allow us to keep up with maintenance and repairs…not to mention a little mental break for the staff.

Disney has been doing so many great things to beautify and improve the park: Adventureland Treehouse, Haunted Mansion queue, Magnolia Park, Pixie Hollow, Rise of the Resistance cannons, and many more, wow! It may be many years from now, but no doubt future Imagineers will probably do a "refresh" of the Madame Leota shop exterior and make it great too, we'll just need to be patient.

The building is an replica of the carriage houses from existing planation home (people can search Louisiana Plantation Carriage House). They have the similar shape. Some of the originals are now used as gift shops or wedding chapels.

What a lot of people don't know is that parts availability have been a mess ever since covid. A processing plant where I'm from was waiting over 2 years for one particular part. Not saying that is the case for rise of the resistance or other disney attractions, but it is possible.

50:39 Hondo B mode is either him removed. Or him covered with a box. Then he is played on the screen. There is one Hondo room with a tunnel on either side leading to separate showrooms

It will truly be a sad day when the last toboggan slides down the Matterhorn. May it last years after we're all gone. That wind noise should be ON whether the ride is operational or not. It adds immensely to the atmosphere around the mountain! Fresh Baked!

When buying Lightning Lane in advance, you pay the set price of $30 per day. So effectively, you lock in the price since it's floating.

David, there is no way that a single person is in some little office somewhere sitting in front of a computer pushing a button or turning a dial to adjust the reservation availability. It is being done by A.I. The problem is that they have so many rules that they are trying to get the AI to use, that some rules appear to conflict with each other. But, ultimately, they are always trying to maximize profits.

Question. You said it’s hard to believe that they sell parking passes. I’ve never had to park in a parking structure so I don’t know anything about it. I’ve always stayed in a hotel within walking distance. The next time I go I’m going to have to park in the parking structure. Is there no benefit to purchasing parking passes online with your ticket or at the park when you get there? Let me know thank you

My family of four (me and my wife and two teens) will be at Disneyland on March 13th 14th 15th (non park hopper). We’re not sure which days we want to go to Disneyland versus DCA. Any recommendations? Do we need to decide this far ahead of time?

If you are NOT staying on property and you want to rope drop, go opposite early entry days for the hotel guests. So Disneyland opens early for hotel guests on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. DCA is Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. So I'd go DCA, Disneyland and then even though DL opens early on Saturday, still do Disneyland on that day because you don't want 2 DCA days and only one DL day. But my main points are, try to go off early entry day and try to get 2 DL days and 1 DCA day, which will mean contradicting the first rule on one day. Hope that makes sense lol!

It has always been said that the best days are during the week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) tickets are cheaper on those days and less people. But If you want to see Mickey's mix magic with fireworks and Fantasmic! at Disneyland and World of color at Disney California Adventure you would have to go on Friday and Saturday, there are exceptions for high seasons but checking the internet because the app does not give any information on those dates, apparently for Thursday 13th there is nothing. My husband and I are going to Disneyland on Saturday March 8 and those 2 shows appear available in the app. Be checking to see if there is an update for Thursday the 13th because it would be a very good option.

Complex computer programs and AI control the crowd flow and Disneyland. It is not done by actual people , but programmers with heavy use of google systems.

Summer will be the deciding factor! All of the things that Universal is doing blows my mind! Disneyland did put a prefabricated shed in the park blocking the view of the Haunted Mansion. That's progress! Did they fix it so it doesn't flood again?

I agree that there are a lot of things that Disney is doing right, there are and have been a lot of projects, but in my opinion…. they really need to start working toward getting out of the reservation system. They are doing reservations purely for their benefit. Not the guest. If Disney really cares about the big picture of the guest experience, they would end reservations.

I really dont get the hate for reservation system. Outside of the people that actually live in the LA area and want to go to the park for just a quick lunch/dinner type thing, what is the problem with it for everyone else? I know for me its nice knowing I buy my tickets and plan my trip that when I get to the park there is no chance of being told they are at capacity and not letting anyone in. And it really isnt any more work then like 2 extra clicks while buying the tickets. That aside if park reservations are that much of a pain can we do away with dining reservations then as well? Just make it so whoever shows up whenever gets in? Now getting rid of fast pass/lightning lane would be great! That was created purely for their benefit.

I"ve been going to Disneyland since 1973. Then...it cost $5.00 for general admission. Ride tickets cost 10 cents to 85 cents. A Mint Julip cost less than a dollar. Fritters at the same place were 85 cents. A hotel room just outside the main gate cost $20.00. And the park itself was NOT consumed with MONEY. Everything was affordable and made sense. No electronics. Nobody walked down main street playing with their phones...to then step on the rail and trip. No one needed reservations to ride on anything. The park was calm. It was paradise. Now? Its just madness. Glad I saw the parks when Walt himself was still alive and the place made sense.

The first time to Disneyland for me was also 1973. I was 10 years old. I don’t remember what it cost, but I do remember having to go to the booths and get ride tickets. Crazy costs now days, and having people on phones all day is annoying. My wife and I are going in mid August this year. We will use phones sparingly and just enjoy our time together.

the grass is just straight up dead which means they are not watering it. Given their track record in recent times i would bet that the sprinkler system for the grass on the hut is broken and, they are being lazy to fix just like all the other things that are broken due to shotty craftsmanship...

Disney worked for over a decade to get INTO the reservation system. They’re not going anywhere.
