Re: Emporor's favorite book It's a callback to a previous episode where she brings in a lot of books to teach the consorts. The Emperor greatly approved of the results.

"How does she know it was the Emperor's favourite book?" We've seen a few scenes of Maomao chilling with Gyokuyou and the Emperor and she doesn't have to hide her face with him so it's fair to say they're on pretty good terms.

The blue rose request may have the obvious interpretation on the face value but consider the social power dynamic, there are more to it. Lakan chilling in front of the emperor at the party that gathers important people is really telling how high on the ladder he is to be able to act freely like that. I'm totally looking forward to the next and the next next episode and hope Penkin gonna drop at us another masterpiece.

Regarding the emperor's favorite book- in the manga, it shows that because Gyokuyou is pregnant, the emperor has cut back on nightly activities with her. But Maomao found him pitiful because she knew that he was holding back, so she gave him a few erotic books. He liked them so much that he asked her for more. 😂

I imagined it as an all blue colored roses in the vase haha some were missed opportunity to make more romantic plot when Jinshi came to wake up Maomao. They really change a few scene in the anime and the author knows it as well.

^This show explores rare diseases and hereditary issues. It is alot in the LN. Lakan describes seeing people as Go game Stones, but he literally can not distinguish human faces. Which I think is a disorder you can be born with.

Or you can become like this after a brain injury. Face recognition has its special area in our brain and it can be damaged.

I have it. My mother has it too. They think it might have been caused by the fact that neither of us could see well enough to recognize a human face until we could talk so we didn't learn in our early developmental period. But they really don't know for sure. It's quite a struggle. People treat you like you're doing it on purpose and you don't exactly want to explain your medical history to everyone.

Important point Jinshi showing up Loulan and her powerful father, Shishou. This maybe one of the most important scenes foreshadowing Season 2. Season 1 is really about Maomao and her history, character, and motivations. Season 2 will finally begin understanding the Empire and its history/politics.

After seeing this type of adaptation I they will do justice on lakan perfection only 2 episode for obviously very important for story

Tbf the anime really pushed him to be suspicious person to be red herring. And it paid off. Remember a lot of watcher accused him planning to kill Jinshi before it's revealed to be Suirei.
