I have a cast iron tortilla press but it’s not electric you just press it down and it makes the perfect tortilla! 😃 I can’t wait to try your recipe, thank you for sharing.❤️

You are back at the perfect time! Yep, yes you are! While you have been away, I too have been away. Not physical surgery. But, and you kinda understand- HOUSE surgery. Ours was from Hurricane Milton. Anyway, week 1 and 2 after, I was given time to make meals ahead, and get them in the freezer, before they gutted the kitchen. Fast forward to, today..I am now given a week, once again, to make meals ahead ( they put my stove back in, so that I could at least cook- No cabinets, but a stove.) 😆Weds, we are scheduled to have our roof replaced- finally 😯So, I too have been working on flat breads, and I found one Israeli pita that I like, but, I really need wanted a tortilla recipe, and here you are! When you are forced to empty everything, you start deciding, does this really need to come back? Guess what I sent to the thrift store...😒Yep, the exact same tortilla press that you are using..sooooo 🤣🤣It's all good though! I have a manual press, and it works for any and every kind of flat bread, so let's do this! Thanks so much for saving me time, this week with your tried and true recipe..makes things for me, smooth sailing. 😁4 months on Weds, the tree popped in to say hello..And we are on the road to recovery..My heart goes out to those that got hit much harder than we did!

I hope you're feeling better! I just recently found you when I was researching Ankarsrum mixers. I made your tortilla recipe tonight, but couldn't get them very thin. Do you remember what kind of presser you have? They tasted wonderful! Thanks so much!

I'm happy you found me, I hope I can be a help! It is a Cucina pro tortilla press. I bought mine off Amazon.

Where do you get the cutter you are using at 7:50? I have a metal one, but I don't like the damage it's done over time to my cutting board and mixer bowl.

Hi! I think I got it off of Amazon. They have a bunch to choose from. Mine is older and there is no brand on it so I can't share it with you but look up plastic dough scraper/bench scraper and lots will pop up. I love mine, and it doesn't cause any damage.

Welcome back❤ Thank you for this video, it's a great tutorial. My husband says the flour tortillas I make with hard white are tough. Is it the flour or maybe I'm cooking them too long? They aren't crispy, just tough to chew. My process and recipe are quite similar to yours. The electric press for parbaking is a great tool.

Have you tried a soft white wheat like Sonora - this is very popular for tortillas. I think you want a soft wheat for tortillas, flatbreads and foods that don't require strength/gluten.

Hi! Tough tortillas could be dryer dough, cooking a bit long, maybe they get cold fast right after cooking? Just thoughts off the top of my head. Oh, also, when I used oil or butter on the skillet when I cooked them.

I have, and agree with you 100%. But I used several recipes before I found this one and tweaked it and for some reason the hard white works well.

@@realfoodgoodfood hmmm, the recipe I've been using says to coat the balls with oil to keep them from drying out. That would effectively fry them, I bet.

What is the name of the tortilla press? Why would you not cook them in the press?
@realfoodgoodfood3 күн бұрын
It's a Cucina pro tortilla press. I like the flavor of the tortillas better with a tiny amount of char on them. It only gets that way in a pan on high heat. You absolutely can cook it all the way in the press.
