I know I’m 7 months late on this one but if you are considering a new run on this one, have you tried the setting that changes the button mashing. Especially useful for fishing because it lets you HOLD when reeling (for example you just hold down square continuously on ps4 controller). I think this makes fishing much easier and faster! I’m totally obsessed with this game have done loads of guides on it. Also thinking of trying out my own speed run of it just for fun. Not sure if you have also see the newish strat for horseman 9. Have a guide for that which goes nowhere near Blackwater and still completes the challenge on Arthur.

i found that line snaps easier on holding the button, could never get a feel for it. i do the horseman strat in part 3.

dude... as far as i understood... "you are supposed to bond with the horse" so that it doesn't behave as an idiot and handles better yadayadayada and it's a game mechanic.. so basically you have to include bonding with each new horse into speedrun .. maybe in longrun you will benefit from this bond. or try to get one "correct horse" and not change it and try not to loose it because as far as i understood "the fastest horse" doesn't equal best horse. they have characters and breed traits , which influence your horse riding experience , like them getting spooked or acting like idiots... you probably know more about this game , but after watching 2 parts of your speedrun it's apparent to me that a lot of your "horse problems" are caused by game mechanics and you just have to make adjustments to your horse choosing and bonding - and you will get overall better riding performance during the run and save time and your nerves. basically same as driving/car mechanics in gta. seems to be a trivial thing but on base level - moving around without stupid accidents and not being able to cut corners save you minutes by the end.

a faster horse does make a difference and i already get the best one available. every horse does dumb stuff, not just the fast ones.
