I'm heading to the dam to flick some lures land based, buying a kayak soon. Question, is it alright to use snap swivels on the end of the leader for trout/redfin? Or do they notice it too much. Could I also grab a recommended lure, popping in to buy a few

Yeah mate i never have any issues with snap swivels and have caught quite a few trout on them.Go as small as possible. I use Razor Edge Lures Scout 45 V2 lures in tbe shallower water. Spinner baits go really well. Both cast really well and perfect for landbased fishing. Hope your trip goes well mate👍

@Wingit Mission Fishing & Outdoors I plan on trying there soon. I'm heading back to Harvey this Sunday. In terms of lure retrieving, what kind of technique is the go? I can't seem to find videos on that. I mainly have been using rapala brown trout 45's, yabbie soft plastic and tassie devil spinners.

@@FrostyJ85 slow retrieve on the spinner and hardbodies, give the rod tip a flick every couple of meters. With the plastics let it sink to the bottom rhen lift and wind. Repeat that every couple of meters mate. When casting, fan out your casting pattern so you cover every section of water in front of you. Good luck mate

No mate, do not eat rainbow trout at all. Will take one to give to relatives once or twice.
